AJ Francis/Top Dolla believing his own hype or justifed?

Former WWE Superstar AJ Francis spoke with the Public Enemies Podcast recently about the online controversy he had with The Young Bucks.

Both sides went back and forth over comments AJ had made about sneakers, leading to the AEW team changing their bios, and Francis believes people in the company now dislike him.

“When that happened, they did the thing with their Twitter bio,” he said. “At first, they sh*t on NXT, and I wasn’t on NXT anymore, so I laughed. I was like, ‘alright, that’s a good joke, they got a good joke in.’ Then I woke up the next morning and saw they changed it to be a joke about me. And I am not the butt of nobody’s joke. Period. They said, ‘well if we mention you here, we will make you trend.’ Huh, okay, well then I made them trend.

“And because of that, AEW fans hate me, people that work there don’t like me. People always got slick things to say about me, and I don’t care. Because I know for a fact that all these people with all these little slick remarks. Internet cornballs or wrestlers alike if they saw me in person, they wouldn’t like that.”

AJ Francis made it clear that he will not forget who said things at that time. He noted that if he sees them at upcoming shows he’s booked on, then he will be asking them why they did that.

“Just know, my memory is long, and I am going to be booked on a lot of different shows,” he claimed. “When I see you, if you said some wild sh*t, you gotta stand on that. I am just being completely honest with you. And to be completely honest with you, I also am all for non-violence. We don’t gotta take it there. But what I am going to do, is ask you why you said what you said.”

AJ Francis has revealed he wasn’t aware that people were mocking The Young Bucks for their trainers at that point. However, when his mentions blew up, he quickly realized.

“The crazy thing is, I didn’t even know at the time that people were making fun of them about that. I didn’t even know that,” he stressed. “Like, I didn’t even know that at the time. I really didn’t even know that until my mentions blew up about it. Then I was like, ‘oh, that makes sense why that happened.’ But, I have multiple other songs already recorded with music videos to go. So, please be careful what you say about me.

He doesn't have a company backing him up, so I get he's trying to product his image, but could he also be taking himself too seriously in this business? I remember the feud got quite heated last fall between Top Dolla and the Young Bucks.

On a recent episode of his podcast Jobbing Out with Glenn Clark and Brandon Linton, “Top Dolla” AJ Francis took the time to address his Twitter feud with The Young Bucks. The Twitter back and forth eventually led to Top Dolla releasing a diss track, and he summed up the whole situation from the past week.

“Just like Wu Tang Clan would say in the words of the immortal prophets, Hit Row ain’t nothin to f***wit,” Top Dolla said. “You can play these little high school games you want to play, and the craziest part to me about the whole situation is I wasn’t talking to anybody in particularly, but as I mentioned in the video, hit dog will holler. And like I mentioned in the one of the tweets that really pissed them off, is that they’ll tell on themselves, and that’s exactly what happened and then they got told on about themselves.”

The Young Bucks are known to update their bio to either take some shots at people or crack a few jokes. In their response to Top Dolla, The Young Bucks took a shot at NXT and they took credit for making Top Dolla trend on Twitter. Top Dolla revealed what his responses were to those shots.

“The craziest part about all of this is I used to go watch them cats, and they just got in their feelings because they let their Twitter minions gas them up,” Top Dolla stated. “And they realized very quickly, I’m not the one to play with. The thing is, to me, when they first did the NXT bio, I was like, oh, that’s rude. I’m not even in NXT anymore, and I know that you know that. So for you to do that, kind of felt like you were saying I should still be in NXT or you just want to sh*t on NXT for no reason, which is A, disrespectful and B, unnecessary.

“But even that I was like, you know what, I don’t feel like dealing with these Twitter people. I’m gonna let these boys slide, then they updated the bio again, and it said, ‘We’ll make you trend just by mentioning you in our bio.’ And I took that personally. I was like, oh, okay. That’s a very interesting comment because to me, I read that as, you’re a nobody, and we could make you popular.

“But in reality, them boys could never make Hit Row like I did. So to say that to me is wild and very disrespectful. So I had to let them know I’m not the one to play with, and these are not games that we play. I don’t play around with my name and my peoples. So everyone in the wrestling business learned a lesson that day, and it’s sad that it had to be them boys to teach everybody a lesson. But now, people know that Top Dolla is not one to be trifled with,”

And there also a Sammy bit on his vlog where they were going through a stack of bills and saying things like "this top dolla is too green, this top dollar is etc"

At one point, this would have been a cool photo a few years back as, at one point, KRS-ONE was the best rapper on the planet and is in most's Top 5 / Top 10 all time list.

HOWEVER - hip-hop heads and music fans know him most recently for defending pedophile and child trafficker Afrika Bambaataa even after the Soul-Sonic Force and Universal Zulu Nation denounced him. KRS chalked it up to a conspiracy of people trying to take down hip-hop.

That story was notorious enough to make people not even realize last year he came out at an absolute covid denier. Like, he's not of the "skeptic" variety. He's of the "this plandemic doesn't exist" idiocy.

He's also known by casual hip-hop and music fans for accidentally inaccurately saying that Adrock of the Beastie Boys died in a song where he lists a tribute to dead rapper.

And longtime hip-hop fans know him as having the absolute worst zero degree kelvin worst taste in rappers of any established rapper ever. Worse than Chuck D's dubious taste in up-and-coming artists, KRS has been surrounded by just vacuously untalented Temple of Hip-Hop Weed Carriers for decades now. A KRS-ONE co-sign is more of a warning for prospective listeners than an incentive.

For some reason Scherr seems to have out for indies and AEW( but not WWE as he specifically always points out)

Dave Meltzer covered the latest WWE releases in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Meltzer noted that Top Dolla (real name AJ Francis) is someone who came across well on television but he rubbed a ton of people the wrong way while he was in NXT and he was getting the same reputation on the main roster.

Meltzer stated that Vince McMahon saw him as the star of Hit Row because of his size but once they decided to cut him, the other two remaining members of the group likely were caught in the crossfire. PWInsider previously reported that there were plans to push Top Dolla as the leader of the group.

Basically, Ashante Thee Adonis and Isaiah “Swerve” Scott were doomed without Top Dolla since McMahon was not going to do anything significant with them outside of the stable.

What may have sealed Top Dolla’s fate is a diss track that he posted last weekend about Jinder Mahal and Shanky that was meant to further their TV storyline. He deleted the track after fans complained that it was insensitive.

Really does make it seem like at least for this one, the reports were true about him backstage based on how he's spoken since he's left WWE.

Top Dolla is certainly showing his lack of knowledge about the business if anything else, saying that he might run into the Bucks at all the indie shows he's booked at, because The Bucks haven't taken an indie booking since Dynamite started.

Right. I'm sure they possibly could if they wanted to, but they're dads who, even outside of wrestling for AEW, also have executive duties, so I cannot imagine it's likely at all.
