Shocking I thought he'd go to a contender. Guess he's got his ring already. Really wish the rangers would do something else. 2 superstars isn't gonna make this team more than really mediocre

KB to the Rockies, 7:182 I’d have rather kept the much better player in Nolan Arenado, but what do I know? Like I said it wasn’t cut and dry with him going to Philly

The Rockies make no sense as an organization.

There is absolutely 0 chance Bryant finishes that contract in Denver. Knowing this team after year 3 or 4 once it becomes apparent that fans aren't gonna pay to see the Kris Bryant show with 0% chance of actually contending for playoffs

so every former cub signed for cheaper than the Cubs offered, there must be serious serious bad blood between Bryant, Baez and Rizzo and the front office
Bryant - Cubs: 210 mil, signs for 182 mil Rizzo - Cubs: 75 mil, signs for 32 mil Baez - Cubs: 185 mil, signs for 140 mil
these guys just 100% did not want to be Cubs anymore.

They gave him a No Trade Clause.

Well, I think each guy thought they were going to make more on the open market It is a gamble but they still got paid. Rizzo is in the best situation and could still net himself another multi year deal but Baez and Bryant are def on their big contracts

They gave him a No Trade Clause. So instead of shipping him off ownership will use that contract and no trade clause to argue they won't be able to afford other big name players in the years to come.

But yea this Bryant to Colorado deal doesn't make much sense
Yes, you wanted a big bet. But will you surround him with pieces to compliment him? I don't see that happening. They need to spend to contend and I think they only plan to spend on Bryant and hope the rest works out

Honestly, the Cubs are probably making the right call not keeping the band together, because Bryzzo and Baez these days would combine for a pretty above average but not great team. Paying a lot of money to lose to SD/ATL/LA in the playoffs. Who do they want to be, the Cardinals?

Bryant's career is over essentially unless he eventually demands a trade, he's going nowhere fast in Denver and I can't believe he went there
I wonder if Philly is still in on Castellanos, who'd probably be able to be gotten cheaper

Chris Sale has a fractured rib and will miss the start of the season. According to Chaim it'll be weeks before he can start throwing. Also he is unvaccinated so unless something changes he can't pitch against the Jays in Toronto.

Right, there is a few factors at play First and foremost is the money and NTC. Colorado probably offered the most and NTC as a sweetner basically locks him in Secondly, you have to consider factors like maybe he wants to be THE GUY and have a team built around him. He has been part of an ensemble but maybe he wants to lead his own group and not be "Bryce little friend" Ultimately, everything is somewhere in the middle. He is going to have the chance to solidify his career with monster numbers in Colorado and always has the ring in his back pocket. Unless the Cubs win another soon, that ring holds a shit ton of weight
