As a counterpoint to the Biggest WrestleMania plummet thread, how about the reverse?
For instance, King Kong Bundy wrestled lower card/enhancement wrestler SD Jones on the undercard of WrestleMania, but was in the main event title match with Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania 2.
I think to be accepted, you need to actually have been on Mania in some form the year before your big match for it to count as an ascension.

Becky Lynch went from pre-show battle royale to be one of the first women to main event a Wrestlemania, not too shabby

Bam Bam was part of a comedy tag match with Luna against the Doinks at WM10.
A year later he headlines the show in one of the biggest celebrity crossover matches at the time.

Benoit
At Wrestlemania 19 he randomly partners Rhyno in the middle of the card in a multi-man tag match
At Wrestlemania 20 he wins the main event at MSG against two of the biggest names of the 90s-2000s and has one of the most iconic celebrations to end the show

Diesel was Shawn’s bodyguard at WM10. A year later he’s defending the WWF title in the semi-main.

The Hardy Boyz. At 15 they were in a pre-show battle royal, at 16 they were in a classic tag team ladder match with the Dudleys and Edge and Christian.

Razor Ramon went from having a random throw away match with Bob Backland at WM only to have one of the most memorable matches ever in the ladder match with Shawn Michaels at WM 10

Bradshaw went from a "let's throw everybody on the card so no one's feelings get hurt" four-way tag team match at XX to being in the semi-main event defending his WWE Championship against Cena. What's even stranger is, at that point in his title reign(which was 9 months going into the event) he didn't feel out of place doing so.

Kofi lost a 5 minute tag title match in 2018 then won the WWE title the following year. Becky Lynch went from pre-show battle royale to be one of the first women to main event a Wrestlemania, not too shabby I don't think anything can top this one though.

Agree on Becky's being impossible to beat. She got eliminated off-camera in that battle royal (although it is interesting in hindsight that only she, Sasha and Bayley got individual entrances), then won both belts in the WM 35 main event.

Bobby Lashley went from losing to Aleister Black because his wife yelled at him to use the spear loud enough that his opponent could here it. To beating Drew McIntyre in the WWE Championship match.

WM 23 - Ric Flair was put in an unadvertised dark match with Carlito against Shane Helms and Chavo Guerrero. I believe this may have been before the kickoff shows were televised. I remember having to get the 3 disc DVD set to see this match.
WM 24 - Ric Flair has a high-profile match with Shawn Michaels, which could be argued as the semi-main event and match of the night.

John Cena was on the pre-show in 2003 and cut a promo saying he would main event the following year. Not quite but he had a hell of a rise that year and ended up in an important spot, opening the show in MSG, winning the US title and cementing himself as the future of the company. Wrestlemania 24 is kind of strange in that as good as the Edge/Undertaker feud was, draw wise it was arguably only the 4th biggest match on the card behind Flair/Michaels, Orton/Cena/HHH and Mayweather/Big Show but circumstances dictated they got the main event spot because they didn't want to end on the WWE title match being won by a heel or the depressing moment with Flair retiring and there was always the chance the Mayweather match could fall apart (although it ended up turning out fine).

Wasn't John Cena initially supposed to have a rap battle with Jay-Z? Then Jay-Z pulled out at the last minute. So Cena had to rap on a cardboard cutout, which was just cringe.
