I'm not one of these " ARGH! not Topher Grace" crowd as I feel if they do an interesting take on the Eddie Brock character he could do quite well at it, but for some reason this just popped into my head-
I think Henry Rollins might've been an interesting choice.

If only he could act.

Brock Lesnar or Howie Long would've been PHYSICALLY perfect. Either could've been the ideal Venom.
But as Deus said, there is that whole ACTING thing to consider.

There is that.. I was goin by his standup special where they reigned him in a bit, and was more on the whole ' Eddie Brock' big built dude look factor.
Though I don't know there's a WHOLE lotta acting to Venom, but then again he's never been one of my faves.

Rollins would be a good choice. And, who the hell needs him to act? Rollins could just be Rollins and make a phenomenal Venom.
Also, wasn't Rollins in The Chase. Not the greatest movie ever, but he was decent in it.

Rollins would be a good choice. And, who the hell needs him to act? Rollins could just be Rollins and make a phenomenal Venom. It could work. I just have a hard time picturing him as Eddie Brock, reporter. He's got the juiced up, drooling monster part down pat.

J. Jonah Jameson: "Eddie, you said you had pictures of Spider-Man without his mask! But these pictures are obviously PHONEYS! What do you have to say for yourself?!"
Eddie Brock: "I'M A LIAR! YEAH, I'M A LIAR! I'LL TEAR YOUR MIND OUT, I'LL BURN YOUR SOUL!"

It'd take quite a bit of direction on the reporter part honestly.. BUT I was sorta seeing it as if that part of his life was in flashback, perhaps he did a story on Doc Ock or some such.. and by the time we see him, his life is already ruined..

The only thing wrong with Grace is his size. I mean, that was part of the Eddie/ Peter dynamic.....the fact that Brock was a linebacker-sized bully, and Peter was always intimidated by that, despite the fact that technically, with his powers, Peter could've broken Brock in two....
That said, we'll see where Grace takes this.

He's spot on for the 'Ultimate' version of Eddie, Topher that is though, whereas the suit was more of the "big bulky" part.

My joke got no-sold. So did my post about Brock Lesnar and Howie Long. I liked FIRESTORM, dammit! Brock Lesnar I could see. Howie Long may have the built, but he looks too much like a "nice guy" for the role. I'd expect him to look directly into the camera and say something cute about RadioShack.

And I think Slim is right about the part of Brock not needing OSCAR caliber acting. Lesnar might've even been able to pull it off, considering that playing an arrogant hot shot isn't too far from the character he was playing on Smackdown every week.
And it's not like the SPIDER MAN films have been immune to bad acting *COUGH*kirstendunst*COUGH*. As long as the rest of the ensemble is strong, you might not even notice ol Brock.

Long was good in Broken Arrow.. granted there wasn't much more than, " You the man Deac, here let's shoot some people" to his character.
Broken Arrow is an underrated flick IMO. I like it at least.
