I gotta go with Punk. I guess it helped that there was another mainstream wrestling company around

Lesnar - he was gone for eight years and really seemed like he'd never be back after the success he had elsewhere.

The smark in me wants to say Punk, but it’s definitely Lesnar.
With Punk I always figured he would return in some capacity. But with Brock, given Lesnar’s success in the UFC and personality there was a legitimate chance he would stay in MMA or disappear into private life where he just counted his money.

Punk just because he was well and truly done with WWE and didn't seem too enthused about AEW.

Lesnar. If Punk came back to WWE then yeah it would be bigger. That's not a knock on AEW, but Punk seems so bitter at WWE, but not the industry.

Phil Brooks loves pro wrestling so much. He was always going to come back.

Oh it’s Brock.
Dude quit because he hated it so much. Became a massive money mover and star in the UFC and pretty much never needed to do anything again.

Oh it’s Brock. Dude quit because he hated it so much. Became a massive money mover and star in the UFC and pretty much never needed to do anything again. I don't think he hates wrestling so much as he just hated the WWE grind. For all of his faults, dude strikes me as a guy who just wants to be home with his wife and kids and the WWE isn't ultra accommodating for that. Until you catch Vince in a bind and you're a huge massive star without him and then you get a cupcake schedule and millions of dollars. But that's on Vince, not Brock.

I voted Punk but then remembered just how big Lesnar got in his 8 year absence. Actually I remember being more shocked at the time hearing that Lesnar was returning than when I saw that Punk had joined AEW.
Also, Brock had no reason to go back to wrestling. Arguably, neither did Punk, but his MMA 'career' and other ventures weren't really doing much for him so wrestling again was probably in the back of his mind. As mentioned in the thread, he still enjoyed wrestling, just not the WWE and their corporate structure

I think the answer is Brock.
Punk loves wrestling. He did it in bingo halls and high school gyms for little money so the fact he would get the itch again was inevitable. I'm actually shocked he didn't wrestle for ROH or in Japan earlier.
Brock seems to like wrestling but he's always been in the big time. With his UFC success and the amount of money he made for that plus his love for the quiet life and being on the farm in Minnesota or whatever I figured he'd never be back.
I'd be shocked if Punk came back to WWE but the fact he's wrestling again felt like a foregone conclusion the day he left. I truly thought Brock was done with wrestling when he left after WM20.

I always had a feeling Punk would return someday.
