I think the most interesting choice in the 1991 series is Dibiase in the green and silver suit that he wore from summer 1988 until about February 1989. I think March 89 is when he switched to his more iconic gold and black one as I'm pretty sure that's what he wore when he fought Blue Blazer on the SNME that month. Honestly I kind of liked the green and silver best although the gold and black is the most memorable likely simply for the reason that it had the most longevity as that was his look for pretty much three years straight (Spring 89 to Spring 92). I think this is how it went: The original green suit was planned, maybe even prototyped for the first series (the 1990 Hasbro catalog shows a drawing of the Dibiase with the green suit mechanism-bent arm). I think once the black suit became his regular suit, they switched it up. Since Dibiase was still a big name with WWF and his toy would sell, they went with the green suit version for production in 1991. The cool thing is, he wore that suit in an ad in the late 1990 WWF magazine that would come out in early 1991. I'm not sure I've ever seen a case like this, where a current performer's new outfit and old outfit get switched during production.

Dibiase was one of the few to have three or more figures as he also had one where he was in his wrestling gear which was released in one of the later series. I think the only others were Hogan, Savage, Warrior, HBK, and Crush (whom it was more because they kept changing his gimmick so much then him being a big star that they wanted to keep makings figures of knowing they would sell). Do you know when in 1990 the first series was released? I want to say it was in the summer sometime but I'm not sure. I'm guessing they probably started the process of making them sometime in the first half of 1989. Mainly with Akeem being included as he was still kind of a big deal at that point but was pretty much an afterthought by 1990. Even then they still could've went with Duggan who was a bigger star but they likely wanted six faces (Hogan, Warror, Jake, Beefcake, Ax, Smash) and six heels (Andre, Savage, Dibiase, Rude, Boss Man, Akeem) so they held off on him until the next series. WWF was always like that back then especially with their video games where the roster would be an even amount of faces and heels of three to six.
