That match was so much better than it had any right to be.
Austin taking a back bump on concrete from that suplex was ****ing crazy.

Austin definitely warmed up as the match continued. I was never an Austin guy. He actually drove me away from the product as a youngster, still just absolutely surreal to see happen.

Austin was never exactly a favorite of mine but it was a very fun moment. Started out a bit slow but as it went along Austin more and more found his footing, good stuff and a great way to end the show.

Had a lot of the same vibe as Stone Cold's latter matches in the Attitude Era, which made things feel right home.

Austin definitely warmed up as the match continued. Was just absolutely surreal to see happen. He visibly felt the adrenaline and sped up around the time of the first table spot (the fact there were multiple table spots in a Steve Austin match in 2022 is wild). An awesome night for Austin, and a legendary one for KO. |

The first minute or two he was moving pretty gingerly and I thought this could be rough but the longer it went he looked better and better. It’s like the beer was kayfabe giving him energy. And him using the ATV to transport Owens up the ramp was amazing. Maybe no wrestler ever has combined being funny and badass better than Austin. |

As WWE gets more and more homogenized and strictly by-the-numbers, I've come to appreciate Austin a whole lot more.
It was a lot of fun, which is something that's very refreshing to say about WWE these days. I hope they can pull off more fun, unpredictable moments.

There were moments when he clearly showed his age, but it was hell of a fun brawl and you have to give Kevin Owens ALL the credit in the works because I can’t imagine anyone giving Steve Austin a better match nearly twenty years after he was last in the ring in a wrestling capacity.
A super fun way to end Night 1 of “Wrestlemania” weekend.
