What TNA Wrestlers should of been pushed as top guys who were over but not pushed here is some of my choices from the early years
Monty Brown. He is always mentioned how Jeff Jarrett buried him. He was massively over in 2004 to 2005. turning him him heel and being one of jarretts lackeys did not do him any favours at all. Lance Hoyt. (Lance was super over in 2005 and was a favorite in the impact zone. I think he could of been a pushed as a top guy. but they never really went with it. Chris Harris. (Harris especially in 2004 could move could work and even had a match with Jeff Jarrett where he took Jarret to the limits. where they were trying to make him a single star(think sting 88) they pushed him as a single for a few months then had him back teaming with james storm.
those are a few I can think of the top of my head. I would even put Amazing red and Jason Cross on that list as well

Christopher Daniels. Dude was never given the opportunity as a top guy and it was a travesty he never won the TNA Title. Dude should have been given a run with the belt in 2013 (when Jeff Hardy was unable to go to the UK) at least.

AJ Styles should have been the ace of the company, but they never recognized what they had.

Samoa Joe. TNA’s biggest buy rate? Lockdown 2008, main evented by Samoa Joe vs Kurt Angle where Joe finally topples Angle to win the big one. How long did he hold it? A decent reign until toppled by Sting and the formation of The Main Event Mafia. How many TNA World Titles did Joe win? Just the one. He turns heel and joins the group that was formed to essentially combat him. I will never understand why Joe only got one World Title when him and Styles should have been a battle of the homegrown aces and the promotion as a whole for years.

Though I'm not a big fan, I never understood why Styles wasn't pushed consistently as a top guy. Instead TNA favoured all the WWF cast offs, good and bad.

Even if it was just a "thank you" run that only lasted the month's worth of taped shows in the UK, it would've been much better than keeping it on a guy they knew wouldn't be able to make the trip.

I would even put Amazing red and Jason Cross on that list as well Monty Brown was mega over. TNAs excuse for not strapping him up was that he had his day job as a personal trainer so he didnt do enough indy work to improve in ring. Hoyt was over with the Impact Zone but he was still young and not ready for the main event. He was more meme than man. Crowd just liked to chant Hoyt. Harris was ready to be a single and main event. He fell victim to TNA having to default everything when they got a TV deal. Titles had to go back to Jarrett, AMW, and AJ. Happened with Fox Sports and Spike. By the time they felt it was time to break up AMW and push Harris his best years were behind him. And his WWE "run" may point to some kind of physical or mental issue.

Monty Brown was jumping right off the screen with charisma and a pleasure to watch in TNA.
I won't argue with AJ, but the dude was so wooden that he never seemed like a main eventer to me.

AJ Styles should have been their John Cena but various regimes in charge never attempted to commit to him as such. He was always cast aside for whatever the new shiny toy of the moment was, usually in the form of an ex-WWE guy coming over. He was treated better in his first calendar year in the WWE than he ever was in TNA, and that's absolutely mind blowing.

Bobby Rude. He had all the tools to be a top tier player. TNA gave him the longest TNA World Title Reign so far and headlined every PPV when he was champ. They pushed him as a top guy.

Abyss should have had a 6-12 month period where he was the champion and a top heel who served as the final boss for a new face to become a top guy.

Bischoff, Jeff Jarrett and I believe even Bruce Prichard have all gone on record saying Vince Russo HATED Samoa Joe. Russo didn't like his look and buried him for it. Didn't want him on the show and only used Joe at all because he had to, but never had any intention of ever seriously pushing Joe as a top guy. If anybody ever needed further proof that Russo is a f'n idiot, there you have it.

If anybody ever needed further proof that Russo is a f'n idiot, there you have it. If I remember right Russo himself had even talked about how Joe’s fluctuating weight meant he didn’t want to push him more. Which, in one sense is fair. Yet at the same time the guy looked like he could kill you regardless of his weight. Not every wrestler needs to have a bodybuilder look. Guys like Vader, Dr Death, Stan Hansen, etc, all looked like they could kill you regardless. They had a look, Joe’s obviously was slightly different, that made you say “this guy is dangerous.” Maybe if Russo (and others) didn’t have 10 different yo-yo pushes for him than Joe would have been more motivated? Just because you didn’t like his look shouldn’t have stopped you from this being your Ace along with Styles. But he wasn’t a WWE castoff, so what are you gonna do.

And Sting was willing to take a pinfall and they still went with that.

This reminds me how AJ was constantly called the future of TNA as he kept getting older and older.
