Do y’all think one company will “win” (as in, win more of an amount of matches)? Or will they tie the amount of wins each company gets?

Do y’all think one company will “win” (as in, win more of an amount of matches)? Or will they tie the amount of wins each company gets? While I made this thread to have fun guessing at just such a thing, my guess at what actually happens is that they won't go too hard on NJPW vs. AEW matchups; there'll be a couple head to head matches, yes, but more likely there'll be a mix of wrestlers from both promotions teaming together in different combinations. Like, I'm sure we'll get Best Friends and CHAOS working together, I feel like Naito and/or other members of LIJ working with Andrade is possible, and there'll be room for other combinations and things in regular tag matches as well as possible 6, 8, or 10 man combinations. As great as I think the match would be at this stage of their careers, I don't think we'll be getting Okada vs. Hangman, for example; too big a political mine field to have the top champs go head to head. I could see each belt possibly getting defended separately with each guy getting an upper card-yet-not-totally-main event challenger (e.g. someone on a level like Ishii challenging Hangman), but I could also envision a set-up where Okada and Page tag together, or maybe tag against one another, something like that. When NJPW and ROH did the MSG show, the only real crossover matches were Cobb vs. Ospreay for the NEVER title, the four-team match for the IWGP and ROH tag belts, and not a lot else. I imagine we'll see more of a crossover here, since NJPW vs. ROH matches were already a fairly common thing before the MSG show, but going by a lot of puro history and the politics involved I do believe they'll largely avoid stuff that can create the perception that one side "wins" over the other, at least not too overtly. ...That said, I'm not realizing that we do need an angle where Okada is formally inducted into Best Friends. I still want his first on-camera AEW appearance to be him just sitting in the crowd next to Orange Cassidy and nobody even acknowledging he's there.

Two things: You’re going by the assumption Hangman will even be Champion by the event. If he’s not, does that change your opinion on an Okada Vs Hangman match? And Meltzer (take it for what it’s worth..) has said that unlike the NJPW ROH MSG show, the majority of the matches will be AEW Vs NJPW.

I think Blackpool Combat Club vs LIJ could be a cool match. The ideal team would be Naito, Shingo and Hiromu, but you could always sub in BUSHI if they need someone to take a pin.

I saw someone on Twitter suggest Blackpool Combat Club against a Suzuki-gun team of Suzuki, Sabre and El Desperado which sounds awesome and shouldn’t be too difficult politically but BCC against LIJ sounds good too.

CM Punk vs Kazuchika Okada - I'm desperate to see this version of Bret tribute act Punk against the second best in the world. Bryan Danielson vs Hiroshi Tanahashi - A perfect set up. Tanahashi is underrated technically and Bryan will bring out the best in him Young Bucks vs GoD - Tama is killing it as a baby face, would be really good FTR vs Cobb & O-Kharn- FTR are untouchable at the moment and both Cobb and O-Kharn have improved immensely Omega vs Ospraey - I don't care how irritating the dumb worked shoot twitter stuff is, I want it. Mox vs Naito - might have happened but this version of Mox vs Naito would be great Joe vs Ishii - because I want good things in my life Shingo vs Adam Page - think Shingo would bring something great out ot Page Daniel Garcia vs Zach Sabre jnr - yes please Sting/Allin vs Suzuki/Archer - let Allin and Archer brawl around the arena whilst Sting and Suzuki just stand in the ring and everyone applauds. Adam Cole vs Jay White - think it just be a good match EVIL isn't there A big battle Royal that comes down to Cassidy, Danhausen, Toru Yano and Taichu. Yano wins. Oh one more, Dustin Rhodes vs Yuji Nagata. Two crusty old vets who are still better than pretty much everyone having a well worked, intelligent match where every spot matters. MORE Hiromu Takahashi vs Sammy Guevara - Hiroku gives Sammy a masterclass in how to be what he wants to be. El Desperado vs Jungle Boy - because why not Oh and the show ends with MJF coming out and making fun of New Japan. Okada hits the rainmaker, main for the next one is set up. Dustin v. Yuji is like the #1 underdog pick for a dream match. Would be so good.

I do want Sting to be involved somehow. Some people forget he has a lot of history with New Japan.

Do y’all think one company will “win” (as in, win more of an amount of matches)? Or will they tie the amount of wins each company gets? Probably even going into a tag match featuring some super elite and bullet club members and one promotion wins via a betrayal. One promotion wins but it's a tainted victory.

To end the Super Show have Jay White defeat Hangman Page to become new AEW World Champion with the help of Kenny Omega outside interference.
Make it memorable.
Put a stake in the ground that this Super Show going forward annually can’t be missed.

And I think having it be NJPW makes sense.

Me personally would rather just see a show of dream matches between both companies and not try and push the whole "Which Brand is Superior?" narrative like WCW and WWE have done in the past.
Although if they want to go in that direction that's cool too, just as long as they don't do what WWE often does and make one side look like total goobers for no really good reason.

That’s a good point. I honestly don’t care who wins as long as the matches are great. I think a lot of fans of both companies want that. Because I certainly don’t need to have one brand or the other look superior to the other.

If we can get some STARDOM, how about Deeb vs. Kairi?

MJF vs Naito is my #1 dream match for a show like this. Two guys who have a history of delivering in big matches.
I hope Tanahashi is put in a big spot. I know NJPW has been fading him down the card but he’s one of the greatest wrestlers ever. I have much more interest in seeing him vs AEW stars than some of the younger guys they’re trying to get over.

I'd be very surprised if it turns into Survivor Series-esque t-shirt time.
