I'd have liked to see Regal beat Christian for it, even if I get that he wouldn't have been an ideal "final" champion. They could still have had Ezekiel beat him, I guess. I bought a Summerslam once in big part to see these two wrestle and 'babyface' Christian wrapped Regal up in his entrance robe and hit a finisher and pinned him immediately. I was so mad. It'd have been an amusing tactic for a TV match, and I get that Regal had been a dickhead to him the whole feud, so it was comeuppance, but for a PPV, I'd prefer an actual match, too, yeah.

I am now at the point where I can understand and appreciate a well booked and well timed squash. I think on a pay per view, when people have potentially paid to see that match, is almost never it

Not limiting it to the ECW brand itself, I always had in mind ECW would've been a good place to give Jeff Hardy a practice run as face of a brand.

I think on a pay per view, when people have potentially paid to see that match, is almost never it I was pissed about that match too as it was one of the ones I was looking forward to. But I will say, that was the low point of an otherwise really good SummerSlam that year. I think that was the problem, they had to make room on one of the biggest PPV's of the year and it was very obvious ECW was always very low priority so essentially their match was cut for time. I believe they had a proper match at the B-PPV the following month.

Somewhere in the anals of an alternate universe, ECW was defined by an epic Braden Walker vs. Bam Neely feud for the world title.

I recall reading that Cir Von aka Monty Brown was definitely penned to have a run before moving to Smackdown.
