I f***ing love it but A.) It’s expensive. B.) I find it way too filling in what’s ultimately small portions. I’ve gone to fancy restaurants and spent a ridiculous amount but I also don’t mind the occasional cheap little trays they sell in supermarkets.

There could be a really fascinating study of how society's relationship to sushi developed, from revulsion, to joke, to delicacy, to something you can buy in a garage. There's a similar story for a lot of things and I think says a lot about us. And good sushi? There's little better It also should be noted how often it was correlated with Sashimi, which is the actual sliced raw fish dish.

Not quite related to sushi, but the talk of sushi reminds me of a thing here. So you know there's shumai (siomai here)? Excellent stuff. Just the common fried ones sold here on convenience stores I love. There's also Japanese siomai, called as such here, as instead of the usual dumpling wrapper it's got nori as the wrapper. Popular enough, but for the life of me I just can't like the taste of the seaweed, either steamed of fried. Probably one of the other reasons why I grew tired of sushi rolls.
