I used to be someone who liked Cody in the ring but generally was pretty meh on him.
After his return and that killer match with Seth Rollins, I started to really enjoy him.
This interview here made me feel like I finally understand Cody as a wrestler and as a character, and now I'm totally invested. I wanna see this man become WWE Champion.

I still don't view Cody as a main eventer, but I'm not against being proven wrong. I do like Cody, though. And a lot of it has to do with him just being... kind of weird. In an interesting way. He's just a weird personality. Not a negative. It makes him sort of fascinating, haha. I do fear that the people will turn on him before long simply because he just has that thing about him where he wears suits, he speaks in a big way, has this elaborate entrance, and just seems to lack self-awareness, which may bite him in the ass. He seems like a natural heel. But I hope it works out for him, he's definitely the most interesting personality in wrestling currently.

A part in this really confused me right after Cody was talking about the Cody Dustin vs. Shield match...he said "after i got fired initially"...Cody got fired after undashing but before he left?

In the leadup to that match he was "fired" in storyline by Triple H and the Authority. Basically the Authority were throwing their weight around and Triple H and Orton were saying how they felt slighted that Cody hadn't invited them to his wedding (even though both likely didn't give a crap) as he had recently gotten married. Triple H then booked him in a match against Orton in that if he lost he was fired. Cody lost and was fired which was just a way to take him off TV for a few weeks so he could go on his honeymoon. What they ended up doing was good too with Goldust and Dustry but I remember thinking at the time that it was such a missed opportunity not to bring back The Midnight Rider. Would've been perfect for that storyline and I think maybe could've elevated Cody more then it did.

This was great

I watched this Friday night and it was a lot better than I was anticipating. I've been lukewarm on Cody for a bit, probably mostly because of heat by association with Brandi, and I don't think I'll ever see him as a top top guy on the level of Reigns or Lesnar but he definitely is one of those that can be in any spot and put on a hell of a match. I think he'll probably get the world title run at some point since that would be a natural story to tell, but then again this is the WWE and natural storytelling isn't exactly their strong point.

One thing I found interesting was despite him not liking the stardust gimmick it was what he needed after dusty died because it was an escape.
