So what will Okada be doing now? No way they put him in a filler multi-man tag I've been dying for them to try something new with Okada. Instead of dominating the World Title picture, have him try to make the US Title feel important as he shoots to become the face of the company in the States or something. Hell, even go after the NEVER Title or team with Ishii to make the Tag Titles relevant. Just anything that's different.

Keiji Mutoh also announced his retirement at it At least by next spring, says he has five matches left in him. I want Tony Khan to snort the biggest line possible and give us Great Muta vs Sting one last time Just bells and whistles, grand as f*** entrances, doesn't have to even be a long match. Just make it an attraction that it should be. Dude deserves it, an absolute legend.

Presumably Danielson if Danielson's good to go by Forbidden Door. That seems to be the match on everyone's radar. Sabre has challenged Danielson ... Y'know what? That's fair, that's also a dream match and I'm well ok with that ... Hmm, I would think Okada isn't in some random multi man, it's Okada. Unless it's like Okada, Cassidy, Chuck vs Andrade, RUSH, Naito who reunite LIJ, I could definitely buy that as a match, but realistically I would think Okada has a solo dream match here, but with some names potentially filling up, I'm not sure who it'd be right now, guess we'll find out soon.

They better have a good ass singles match lined up for Okada at the end of this month.
I get it, Okada's been around that belt for a while, people wanted him to do something fresher. But couldn't we wait until after the big crossover is over to upend him?
Okada should have gotten the chance to walk out of Chicago with the IWGP belt first, like he did in NY. White is the heel, he doesn't need that accolade as much.

Bleh on Okada losing the title because of Forbidden Door and it's want of a Bullet Club revival.
Okada's story of being Inoki's legacy on the 50th anniversary was an awesome story.

Satoshi Kojima defeated Go Shiozaki to become the new GHC World Heavweight Champion at Cyberfight Festival. Kenoh challenged him after. Holy shit, I didn't expect that. That's a surprising move, but one I don't necessarily mind. It doesn't fix NOAH's problem with building towards its future, necessarily, but it at least is something fresh and a surprise. I marked hard when Kojima won but man, NOAH needs to start developing it's future.

El Phantasmo officially moving up to the heavies, sweet. Kicking Tacos, Yujiro, and Fale out of that lineup would make it even better. Certainly there's others who could use that nod. I agree that Fredericks could have been given a spot. Or someone from AEW I thought they were gonna have people from different companies(Impact, AEW, GLEAT(CIMA), etc.), like they did with the BOTSJ.

I mean, they kinda are by having Archer there. I know he's been allowed to work for NJPW as well, but he's still obviously primarily an AEW guy.
I am so looking forward to finding out who is in what block. Archer has demonstrated he can excel in the G1, and I hope we get to see some fresh matchups for him.

I more meant multiple companies, like they did with BOTSJ. It added a lot of needed freshness to that tournament.

I guess I mind less here since there are a good chunk of guys who either haven't been in a G1 before, or it has been a while. That, plus Ibushi and Naito not being present means that this should have a different complexion than some of the most recent years' G1 tournaments.

Honestly thus card was mostly underwhelming. The main event was great with Okada showing a vulnerable, frustrated side. The usual complaints about every njpw main event going over 30 minutes apply through.
The rest was... fine. I actually quite like Tama vs Anderson. Tama's great babyface run continues and whilst 2022 Anderson isn't 2014 Anderson, he did more than enough to deliver. Tanahashi vs Goto was disappointing. The tag mstch was a good as a tag march with Fale and Owens can be (it was meh). Takagi vs Taichi didnt really take advtamge of the gimmick so whats the point. Ospraey vs Sanada had some good action but was just fine. Nothing else really stood out.
Disappointing compared to Dominions of yore. Could just watch the main event

Kojima is now the second person in wrestling history to hold the IWGP, Triple Crown, GHC, and NWA heavyweight titles.
First being Keiji Mutoh.
