Ospreay's the Champ but doesn't have a belt He needs to make one of those cardboard title belts(like, I'm sure, some of us did as kids), with a bad drawing of the U.S., & "IWGP U.S. Champ" written on it.

Jay White mocking the crowd because they can't cheer is such a dick move. It's brilliant.

I'll also say that Jay's promo in-ring, and backstage, are the two best promos of the year.

BTW, what do the people that wanted Hiromu/Ishimori in this show instead of Yano/Gallows think after the later went less than 5 minutes?

Rumors are swelling that Okada might not be at Forbidden Door due to his baby that's on the way.

Jay White been more than due for another World Title run
He's def holding the title until WK and considering his record against Okada I won't be surprised if they run it back. I always thought they would have White beat Okada at WK for the title but I assume Okada gets it back then

Loved the show today, even if some results were meh. Biggest pro goes to Jay's in-ring promo getting the crowd to respond. That was such a cool moment and genuine from both sides. Biggest con was Tama losing the NEVER belt so quickly, but the match was solid and he could win it back before the G1 for all we know. Ospreay winning the US title feels like it is an audible, and Juice was set to retain to give more belts to BC, but this does continue Ospreay's "New Japan is screwing me" gimmick by being an official champion with no belt. A nice inverse of his storyline from last year. There's a ton of stuff to react to, but I'll just get into the meat of things with the G1. Short version - I love the four block scenario in theory, but the actual competitors within each block will give a better picture. I do think things will be more predictable, but the shorter blocks can also lead to some great showcases and upsets that mean more with the heighten stakes. A loss or two at the beginning can absolutely sink someone more with just six matches to tackle. I can now see why Fredericks was going off on Twitter before the show. To be fair, I don't think he's very good, but I can also see how a homegrown product would be upset that two freelancers jumped over him to get the G1 nod. Plus after Connors got to shine in BOSJ, my assumption was Karl would get the same opportunity here. It's also weird that Rosser doesn't get the call despite being the actual STRONG champion. Surprised Kushida didn't show up today I was too, but I wonder if they are saving face by not having him appear before the G1 so that they don't feel forced to put him in the tournament. That was a hang-up of KUSHIDA's before he left, and New Japan may want to welcome him back, but still have the leverage to go "we don't see you in that position." I've never been a big fan of his unlike most, but in the new G1 format, this would've been a fine time to throw him in.

Fredricks speaking his mind in such a way is something I would expect from a guy trained by Shibata.
Shibata had no issues ruffling feathers when something felt off to him.

Karl Fredericks and Christopher Daniels will team in the New Japan STRONG tag team championship tournament. Interesting team, but Iβd expect WCWC, Aussie Open or TMDK to be favorites.

For Kushida, I wonder if it's less NJPW won't want to use him as a heavyweight ever, and more that they want him to come back as a Jr. and then have him move to heavyweight. If that's the case, it'd still make sense not to bring him back just yet.
