Seriously, that’s just incredible I really want this belt to come to AEW for a bit, even if it's just for like AEW DARK, I wanna see someone like Serpentico win it and a bunch of like the more undercard peeps fight over it. It's a goofy title done right. It's "what if the 24/7 belt (an ostensibly comedy belt) was actually funny"

The Heavymetalweight title really helps you appreciate just how much the 24/7 title f***ing sucks. Yeah I'd be a lot more positive towards the 24/7 shenanigans if they were half as funny as DDT.

CHIKARA's 24/7 Hardcore Championship was funnier and more well produced than WWE's 24/7 belt was Language Warning, and yes you will see A LOT of familiar faces in this especially if you watch AEW lol.

I get to a degree why some people take umbrage with it, but I think there's something to be said for catering for different markets. I'm reminded of a young Cactus Jack facing his teacher Dominic Denucci in Nigeria on a tour. He was throwing punches and the audience was hardly reacting until Dominic snapmared him and put a chinlock on, whereas they began politely clapping and showing appreciation, with Dominic telling him, "Sometimes, the punch-kick don't work. Then, you gotta wrestle!", with the rest of the match being them keeping to the basics and having a technical match.
DDT audiences tend to be people who, obviously enough, are aware that wrestling is predetermined, but can appreciate the athletics involved and, already committed to playing along with the suspension of disbelief, they play along with it going even further, not unlike with CHIKARA in its prime.
Definitely not everyone's thing, obviously, but with so many wrestling promotions out there, it makes sense to find a niche and then play to that audience.

I've not seen that one but I have seen the little girl match and it really demonstrates just how good Kenny is because he manages to completely make it work. To have a good, entertaining match with a worker like Haruka or Yoshihiko is nothing short of a testament to how f***ing good Kenny is. You can't just throw anyone out there to do that because it'd look like as convincing as doing an F5 with a pillow in your bedroom at age eleven. It's a show of incredible technical skill, especially in Haruka's case because he had to protect her more than any opponent he's ever had. And he did it. I know this sort of style isn't for everyone, sure. DDT is a very specific kind of company. But to say he's a bad wrestler for this when everything it does proves just how talented he is? Nothing short of blind, gibbering hatred.

It's got nothing on Kota vs. YOSHIHIKO. That was a 5 star match, not even joking.

I don't know the history of their fued but Yoshiko could have started it, I saw them do a balcony dive to start a fued recently (unless I missed something before that).
I've seen some crazy things since I started watching ddt but the Heavymetalweight title has been disappointingly absent. Admitedly I mostly watch the street wrestling and larger cards and often skip parts. Does it mostly appear on the smaller shows?

The title and changes for it often happen off screen or on YouTube/social media (recently everyone watching a YouTube stream became a champ because the phone filming fell on the champ). On bigger shows singles for it happen but you usually see it defended in a battle royal or something like that.

Just watched that Ibushi match and that kind of stupid shit is why I love wrestling. The thing that always got to me about the match was that Ibushi went hard. Like, he was putting in the work against basically himself and there was no reason for it. The Heavymetalweight title really helps you appreciate just how much the 24/7 title f***ing sucks. Yeah I'd be a lot more positive towards the 24/7 shenanigans if they were half as funny as DDT. And I know we're down on WWE humor but I think what got to me is that in a company where they did a tie-in with Netflix for Zombies and Golden Eggs, none of that went to the division that would have benefited from that goofiness. Heck, I'm still annoyed that half the cast of SNL didn't win the title when Bad Bunny was musical guest, such a dropped ball.

Do you also ask why people go watch comedy movies? It's like asking "how am I supposed to watch Blazing Saddles if the movie doesn't take itself seriously?"

Just short of 40 but looking perpetually 30, from a wealthy family so he always wears nice clothing, ludicrously athletic, always taking really absurd risks. Hell, he even has a comically bad sense of direction and gets hopelessly lost if left to his own devices. He's basically an anime protagonist.

He wanted to be Goku when he grew up until he realised that Goku didn't actually exist.
also he doesn't trust books because they make him use his imagination.

I really want this belt to come to AEW for a bit, even if it's just for like AEW DARK, I wanna see someone like Serpentico win it and a bunch of like the more undercard peeps fight over it. It's a goofy title done right. Wait, Yoshihiko, Ironman Heavymetalweight Championship, AEW. I can tie this all together. Back in 2020, DDT sent the current DDT Ironman Heavymetalweight Champion Yoshihiko to America to fight Joey Janela at a GCW show. Joey won the title and it soon came to AEW where it was mostly defended on the Vlogs (Mainly Sammy's Vlog from what I remember) it kinda changed hands on Dark once when Jungle Boy beat Joey but the belt never appeared on the show and Joey gave him the title latter. Hell during this time Dean Malenko won it and the REW Pakistan 24/7 Championship which Sammy had at the time, and could only be defeated by Orange Cassidy. Anyway changes happen Britt Baker ends up winning it, only to fall asleep reading the Young Bucks book which pins her and gets sent back to DDT (Not sure what happened to the REW Pakistan 24/7 Championship as Britt held that too bit only Ironman Heavymetalweight Championship went back) When it came back to DDT it was rather fun and lead to the greatest stand off in wrestling history. Basically Kazuki Hirata intercepted the package, tried to beat the book and was stopped by other wrestlers. A five way happened at Into The Fight 2021 where Danshoku Dieno formed an alliance with the Young Bucks book, only for Kazuki Hirata to go back stage and steal a Saki Akai photo book to counter the Young Bucks book. Only for the Photo book to win the match by falling on top of the Young Bucks book while everyone else is fighting and the ref counted the pin. After the match Hirata, turned on the book giving the book the Egoist Driver but it kicked out at two. The book then hit Hirata in the head and knocked him out with a Hurricanrana. And was saved when the owner of said book Hirata stole it from came and reclaimed it. But the feud didn't end there as the Young Bucks book and Saki Akai photo book faced off in a six man tag team match for the title at Day Dream Believer 2021. Neither book won the title, the person who won it didn't get to keep it long as they read the Saki Akai photo book, only to get beaten down by Saki Akai herself who won the belt and ran off with it and her Photo Book (To stop others from reading it) and ended the AEW involvement and the once in the life time, The Young Bucks' Killing the Business, Saki Akai's Lip Hip Shake fued.
