Yeah, Tommy "I am going to stunt on you hoes" Oliver never combined Dragonzord to fight with Thunder Zord from my recollection
That would have cost Saban money and he wasn't with that

Let me put it here because I'm not sure where else to. Did the Dragon Zord and the Thunder Zords ever cross pathes? Together that is. I know they fought when Goldar took the dagger. But fighting together, did they ever merge to create a mega zord? Seems like as soon as the Thunder Zords came along the Dragon Zord was phased out. Not to the best of my recollection. The Thunderzords and Dragonzord were from two different Sentais, so even if they did appear in the same episode it would’ve been spliced together from 2 different shows It made the zord fights such an absoloute mess because Saban could not just move the f*** on from MMPR and so we get Zyuranger , Zyu2 and Dairanger footage just a complete mess.

Yeah, looking back on it that was a shitshow. But, probably the right call to establish a couple years of MMPR before moving to the change shit every season. Don’t think the show would’ve lasted long if they did a full change season to season before the show was firmly established in pop culture

I'll give them a slight reprieve at the time for a few reasons. 1)This was the first time they were doing something like this. 2)They probably thought the series would be done by "Doomsday", so anything after was last minute preparing 3)Not moving on from MMPR was because, at the time, the show was still at its highest point (I mean, they were prepping a movie and everything at the time) Yes it was a clusterf*** in Zord fights, but the money at the time was squarely stationed in staying Mighty Morphin' until it was time for the Zeo changeover.

The series was supposed to end at S1 Doomsday which is why it was written way it was
However, it was pretty clear by S3 they needed to make a change. You already bled the source material extremely dry and while still popular, there was a drop
Power Rangers was always better when they had their backs against the wall and somewhat forced to make changes or think things was going to end

The Dragonzord did team up with the Thunder Megazord in "The Wanna Be Ranger" and "Green No More" Part 1 and it also fought the Tigerzord in the "Return of the Green Ranger" multi parter. All 3 fights are spliced together with only the Dragonzord parts being good in the monster fights since it was actually fighting the monster.

S3 was when I felt like I was growing out of it for the first time. The cast changes were already frustrating (though I liked Adam over Zack), and those alien rangers that needed water or whatever the hell that story was made me as an 8-year-old question the show's direction. We were already trying to cope with Lord Zedd being neutered at the end of S2, it was rough. But I did love the concept of the Ninja Rangers, though the Movie being a different timeline confused the hell out of me, and I remember the end of S3 building up to the destruction of the Command Center with that bomb being extremely interesting. I think at this point, anything the show did that had real game-changing stakes was intriguing. That, combined with those Zeo serials, brought me right back in to being hyped as hell for the next season.
But yeah, S3 was rough. I felt like that alien ranger shit would never end, and I never identified with seeing kids my age or whatever the focus testing was in shows like this. I wanted to see the cool cast I knew and loved. Also, I remember feeling like the comedy was a little much this season, though I was getting older so that probably factored in a lot with a show like this.

Now that I think about it, I don’t even think S3 aired in Canada. YTV dropped it halfway through S1 because of the violence controversy, and I’m about 99% Global dropped it after S2. I saw the odd S3 episode at my grandmas, and I saw the Alien Rangers at her place, because she had Fox and I didn’t but I didn’t get back in until mid way through Zeo when we moved and got Fox and watched til midway through Lost Galaxy.
I tried getting back into it at Ninja Storm, but I was in high school by then and it was low priority on tv time so didn’t stick with it long. Haven’t watched a full series since In Space, although I did watch a bunch of the MMPR remake/remaster/whatever the f*** you wanna call it

I guess I will put it here.
Where there more contract disputes, that's why Billy never got a proper farewell?
And when Bulk and Skull were apes?

I think Bulk and Skull were apes cause they were doing more backstage stuff. Billy I think was in a dispute and wanted leave. There was also the bullying he suffered which came out after the fact

Season 3 was kinda the end of the run for me. Like alot of people, I was struggling in Season 2 after they replaced the 3 original rangers and Tommy became the leader (honestly Kimberly was the only person keeping my interest in the show). When they replaced her, I was pretty much done. I didn't like the alien rangers, I didn't like the sparkling spandex, I really didn't like the kids.

The show kind of had to do a hard reset once they started using stock footage of Jason, Trini and Zack

Season 3 seems to be the most divisive Power Rangers season. Though I've been opposed to Zedd being reduced into a generic comedy villain, his alliance with Rita gave the rangers a really hard time. Rito tags along and destroys their dino powers (and their Thunderzords with it), getting a hold of Kim's power coin as a result of Katherine falling under their spell, and summoned a monster-of-the-week villain to have the team turn on each other (though it may have been half-assed execution). The zords fight were nice but I did miss the traditional non-morphed fight scenes the show had been known for.

I think the most lasting impression of season three is how decisively the villains won a lot of the time, even ending the Alien Rangers season with seemingly snatching victory from the jaws of defeat. What's more is that the Rangers never really got their last major 'win' back over any of them because by the next season the Machine Empire had chased them off.
Zeo really needed to end with a final show down between the Rangers and their old rivals. The fact we never got it because Zeo ended on such a near-inconclusive whimper is what led ultimately to the fanfiction "Scorpion Rain" which in turn opened the door to the writer of "Forever Red" getting a job with the production.

So what were everyone's thoughts on Zeo? It was a pretty solid series from what I can remember. It's all on youtube for anyone who wants to see it.

If I had to sum it up in a single word...refreshing. Everything just felt like it got a new jolt on life. Probably my favourite zord fight in the entirety of Zeo just showing how versatile the super zeo zords and Tommy having a space fight with the monster only to just run him through with the sword...chefs kiss all while the zeo theme plays in the background. The only downside to Zeo is that the Machine empire came in with such a bang only to basically tread the same path as comedic Zedd for the rest of the show and just to show how completely worthless he was he just straight up gets squashed like Hugh Morris against Goldberg just beaten with no worrie he could ever win. Future Gasket and Archerina were way better villans IMO.

Zeo was badly needed from a freshen up standpoint
Zeo theme is still the best theme

Zeo is probably my all time favorite team from an in-universe perspective.

Zeo is probably my all time favorite team from an in-universe perspective. Bringing Jason back was def a major move and skipping ahead to Turbo, while making the new team was a much better move since the old team seen so much. I do wish Adam got his chance to lead his own team like they were positioning him to do
