So, I haven't seen this since a horribly faded VHS tape in 2000 and it didn't connect with me, but wow is this a fun watch.
One of the movies in the Troma catalog that Lloyd Kaufman openly trashes, it opened in theaters on this day in 1984. I'm watching the Vinegar Syndrome restoration for the first time, and a lot of the film is beautifully shot. The director is a pretty famous editor who did everything from 'The Ed Sullivan Show' to 1995's 'Friday' and so many things in-between. Really an acclaimed career. The soundtrack was also by the same person who did the iconic 'Friday the 13th' score.
More of a whodunit than a straight-ahead zombie movie (and the ending is polarizing for being something of a bait-and-switch) it does have a considerable cult following outside of Troma circles.
But yeah, especially the resort shots in the beginning. Really gorgeous stuff. Anyone else seen it?
