Everyone always scoffs about tna being the cockroach of pro wrestling but nwa been on life support since turned kicked them to the curb in the 90’s. Some wrestling promoter will always see that nwa name and think it still means something and get in bed with them.

TNA is the cockroach, but the NWA is the cockroach’s grumpy grandfather who still believes he has a few years in him before he croaks…

The NWA is basically a shambling corpse at this point. While Impact isn't what they were in their prime, at least they're in a respectable position.

I honestly think the NWA is in a better spot than Impact at this point. I sometimes forget Impact still exists and couldn’t tell you one person on the roster.

The NWA is always going to have that name recognition.
Unless WWE buys the trademark, someone is always going to come along and try to resurrect it despite it's best days being nearly 40 years ago.

It depends on what you consider unkillable, which is to say, TNA DID die. Impact is the Theseus' ship of wrestling. With Dixie and the Jarrett's gone, there's little to no DNA left over, just a few wrestlers and some trademarks.
NWA's trickier. The way it was structured from the beginning makes it harder to define what is and isn't life for it.

Impact survived Hogan, Bischoff, and Russo. If they couldn't kill it, nothing short of wrestling being banned will kill it.

NWA will never die.
Long after the NWA's last show, we'll find out that a title connected to the NWA World championship lineage has been trading hands in some guy's garage for the last 30 years.

NWA hasn't so much stuck around as much as been revived in some form or another for the last 30 years on and off.
Impact by contrast has survived more bullets to the head than an RE2 Remake Zombie.

I think both companies died and the companies that are using the 'NWA' and 'Impact' brands are merely using the name value. They are completely different entities from their original incarnations.

I wasn't sure if TNA/impact did actually close for an extended period during major changeovers and rebranding but no, they were pretty much business as usual.

the difference is that Impact has stayed opened concurrently even when the owners changed hands... NWA has not. But would any casual fan who is familiar with the NWA name know that? It's like asking people who are familiar with the Showbiz Pizza and Chuck E. Cheese rivalry, probably the vast majority of those people would tell you that Chuck E. Cheese won out.

How does impact still Have a following? It has found a niche or two and delivers with matches pretty well.

Casual fans would probably have no idea what either promotion is tbh. Most people if you say NWA will go right to Dr. Dre and company. And I don’t know how many Smashing Pumpkins fans have crossed over to the wrestling promotion just based on Billy Corgan’s association. Impact on Axs doesn’t have the Spike/Paramount Network level of viewership they used to either.

Impact is a 20 year old broom, which has had 10 new heads and 13 new handles in that time.
The NWA is the dread pirate Roberts, there's always some money mark who wants to pick up the mantle.
