So last night me and a few friends were watching an episode of RAW from summer 07 that happened in Corpus Christi. Naturally the crowd was on the quiet side all night, but it wasn't rly a bad crowd cause they still reacted to anything/anyone that needed a reaction (Cena and Lashley were both ridiculously over for example). Then something happened.
sniiiiiiiiitskyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
This dude comes out for his squash match, and the crowd goes Nothing. Like legit nothing. Then the match is actually happening (with fellow baldman Val Venis) and all I can hear in my ears is this subtle buzzing noise. It's the f***ing noise floor. Crowd was so dead that near dog frequency noises were getting picked up on the mic. That's unbelievable.

Jinder Mahal at the 2012 Royal Rumble. You could hear his theme music like it you were playing the MP3 in the room.

I remember for their first couple years the Usos were on this level. Then they started trying to pump the crowds up during their entrances, and eventually it worked, but when it started it was hilarious.
"When we say 'Uce,' y'all say 'Oh!' UCE!"

X-Pac Vs The Rock at Capital Carnage in 1998. The crowd did pick up but it took a while. For the first few minutes the only sounds are footsteps on the mat and the bounce of the ropes and turnbuckles.
They weren't doing anything particularly boring but I think the crowd were pissed because it should have been Triple H challenging Rocky for the WWF Title, but the Corporation switched shit up half way through the show and gave him X-Pac instead.

WCW Starrcade 1995 from Nashville, TN. They reacted to some of the entrances for guys like Sting, Luger, Flair, etc. but most of this card was WCW vs. New Japan and the crowd didn't seem to care much about it.

The worst example for me still has to be that NA Title ladder match in late 2020 in the PC. For most of the guys it was fine, but for Velveteen Dream? Dead silent. Not booing, silent.
They literally couldn't pay Dream's coworkers to react to him.

Maybe not the best example but Unforgiven 1998, despite being knee deep in the Attitude Era by this point, had a Greensboro crowd that couldn’t care less about the show at all.
Other than Austin and the Inferno Match, I don’t think they made a peep at all. I wonder if it was maybe because Greensboro was traditionally a WCW crowd so they weren’t too hot on the WWF stuff?

I fully expected to see Corpus Christi mentioned right off and I was certainly not disappointed.
Great crowd for AEW, though.

Not to the extent of Rob Conway's music, but I'd argue it's definitely in the top five of most underwhelming hooks to an entrance theme.

I remember a dreadfully boring Jericho/Austin main event at No Way Out 2002 that the crowd just did not care about at all. Austin kept spamming chops because the crowd wooing them was the only thing they were into. It didn't help that everyone knew the NWO was going to get involved and were just waiting for that to happen.
JBL v Booker T at Survivor Series 2004. The crowd was pretty dead for most of the show but especially this match. No one cared about JBL and no one bought that Booker was winning. In fact 2004 in general had a lot of pretty silent crowds for big PPV matches. It was a pretty dark period post-Wrestlemania. Edge v Kane at Backlash in Canada and Edge's first match in over a year but the crowd didn't care. Undertaker v Booker at JD. Eddie v JBL at JD/GAB barely got reactions until the shocking bladejob/title change. Benoit/Kane at Bad Blood. HHH/HBK on the same show went so long. The crowd were into for parts but silent a lot of the time. Taker/Dudleys at GAB one of the deadest crowds for a PPV main event. Unforgiven had a terrible crowd. Jericho and Christian had a ladder match and took some insane risks for barely any reaction and Orton/HHH in the main event wasn't much better. JBL v Taker at No Mercy and v Booker at SS also had crowds that gave zero shits. One of the best things about Cena's emergence as the top guy in 05 was that love him or hate him his matches usually had a hot crowd and were rarely quiet.
HHH v Kozlov at Survivor Series 2008. HHH got a decent match out of Khali a few months earlier at Summerslam but Kozlov was just asking too much of him, especially considering the fans were expecting a triple threat with Hardy. Hardy eventually coming out at the end as well as Edge got a good reaction but the crowd was dead before that point.
Big Show v Randy Orton at Survivor Series 2013. Survivor Series has had its fair share of dud world title matches, huh. That's just not a main event worthy of a big 4 PPV and the crowd reacted as such. They didn't even care enough to hijack it with Daniel Bryan chants and were mostly silent. The biggest reaction was post-match when Cena came out to confront Orton.
I remember being surprised that the crowd didn't really care about Batista/Kennedy at Great American Bash 2006 considering it was Batista's first match back from injury and Kennedy was a rising star. Another one that surprised me was Jeff Hardy v CM Punk at NOC 2009. It seemed like a pretty hot feud but the crowd that night didn't really care.
After 2004, 2010 was probably the year with the deadest crowds for big matches. You had multiple PPV world title matches involving people who weren't main event ready yet like Sheamus/Jack Swagger/Nexus. No one cared about Barrett's matches unless he was facing Cena. When he faced Orton in consecutive PPV main events it was dire. Not helped by the fact that over on Smackdown on those shows you had Kane/Taker and Kane/Edge which also had dead crowds. I challenge you to find a worse period for main events with less crowd interest than that October/November 2010 run with HiaC/Bragging Rights/Survivor Series.
HHH/Orton at Wrestlemania 25. They had super hot crowds for months during the build then instead of having a violent brawl that the feud required they had a regular match and the fans were bored. And the match being boring is definitely the reason for the silent crowd, not burnout from Taker/HBK. Edge/Cena/Big Show went on immediately after Taker/HBK and managed to win the crowd over.
The 2012 Royal Rumble had one of the deadest crowds every for a Rumble match. Well over half the entrants got no reaction and the crowd only popped for the likes of Orton and Jericho. Look at some of the lowcard names in that match. Primo. Epico. Justin Gabriel. Ezekiel Jackson. Hunico. Jinder Mahal. Alex Riley. David Otunga. The Usos (a year or two before they got over) Then people got excited when number 30 was counting down...and immediately deflated when it was Big Show.
