I really think the workrate trashing of Hogan vs Andre at WM3 is overrated. The psychology in that match is stellar. Andre looked like a true insurmountable threat and it was Hogan's greatest triumph.

In terms of overall spectacle? It's Andre. In terms of actual workrate and whatnot? It's Warrior. That match was far better than you'd ever expect Can I just say I never expected to see on FAN that "Warrior" and "workrate" in the same sentence

Vs. The Rock.
I recently watched the Warrior match, again, and it's a shockingly great match. And I don't mean just because it's two of the biggest wrestlers ever and it's just a fun spectacle, or whatever—it's a genuinely great match.

Hogan vs. Warrior has the best test of strength segment I’ve ever seen in a wrestling match, maybe?
The way they got the crowd hyped just for THAT.

I think it boils down to who do you like more Savage, Warrior or the Rock. Personally for me it's Savage.

Probably between Savage, Warrior and Rock (though Slaughter and Vince weren't bad matches either for what they were).
I do have a soft spot for vs. Bundy just because I love how Lord Alfred Hayes said "Avalanche"

Like I said earlier. I don't think he has a truly terrible WM match in his resume. He could work and he didn't need a million moves. The match with Rock and to a lesser extent Warrior, show the just a simple shove or stare down could pop a crowd bigger than a 720 splash.
The Savage match is my favorite match of all time, because it was everything I love about wrestling. My two all time favorites, two larger than life mega stars, a great and simple to follow storyline. And it culminates at the biggest show of the year.
One thing people don't mention about WM5 is that it was the highest buyrate for Mania until Mania 15.

One thing people don't mention about WM5 is that it was the highest buyrate for Mania until Mania 15. And for some reason you saying that is just making me wonder about a Mega Powers circa 1988 vs. Austin and Rock circa early 2001 tag team match.

I initially voted for hogan vs rock but I reread the title of the thread and I changed it to macho vs hogan at WM V. I did that because of several reasons. One reason is that this match in my opinion was the first one that was truly what we now consider a wrestle mania main event. I mean Ventura even makes that point at the beginning of the match. Also, the way the story line built over the year(imagine that taking your time ?) made it feel massive. There was the blood. Even all these years later the match still feels important.

For an actual wrestling match-Probably Warrior. I always thought the Savage match was too short or rushed into the finish, just something was slightly off about it.
For his WRESTLEMANIA MOMENT match- Andre. The sheer spectacle of that match will never be surpassed.

I say Andre at WM 3 because the story and build to it was done so perfectly

The match with Ultimate Warrior is one of my favorite of all time. As a kid, Wrestlemania 6 was my favorite VHS tape. It feels so massive. Hogan is a great worker, and Warrior started to deliver for big matches right around 1990 (which didn’t last long).
The Slaughter match is an underrated brawl. Not one of his best Wrestlemania matches, but I feel it never gets the recognition it deserves due to being overshadowed by Savage and Warrior.

Was WM 6 not about as well planned out as Savage vs Steamboat was?

For me its the Savage match, but I want people to know that the match against Slaughter is really underrated.

Vs Warrior for me. Rock is probably second.
But his match against Vince is mad underrated and is definitely worth a watch.

Wrestlemania VI vs Warrior. They rehearsed it, planned it, scripted it and went over it a million times and it was just about perfect. It had that legendary Big Fight we're seeing something historic happening here vibe as it was going on.
Thought his match with Slaughter was pretty good too

For the match quality or for working a miracle?
I think the Rock match is his best one, but I think any argument that Hogan can't work (if you refuse to watch his Japan stuff) is undone via the Warrior match

tbh, Hogan didn't have a bad WrestleMania match during prime Hulkamania years. They all told a good story and delivered, and sometimes they were even far better than they had any right to be.
