Ok, we've got one for WWE, what are some other terrible attempts at trying to reference pop culture that other companies did? Lazer Tron comes to mind.

Would the Dynamic Dudes cashing in on skateboarding/beach dudes, maybe a little TMNT, count?

I can't think of any specific examples off the top of my head, but I'm almost certain there were times during TNA's most shameless WWE-imitating era where there were terrible dollar store versions of clumsy WWE pop culture references.

Bunch of dated Bobby Heenan lines in WCW. He was using "achy breaky back" 5+ years after that song was a hit.

The Artist Formerly Known As Prince Iaukea. I’m fairly certain that Prince was back to being Prince by the time this BS showed up and on top of that it was Prince Iaukea cosplaying as Prince. Total failure.
Can’t think of any offhand but I’d wager that ECW had a bunch that have aged horribly.

That singular time on one of the very first TNA weekly PPVs that Shark Boy did an unmasked interview as Dean Baldwin, the secret fifth Baldwin brother, is one of the most baffling things I've ever seen. Double baffling tho; Shark Boy apparently did this gimmick occasionally in the late 90s according to Wiki so I can't even blame it on TNA.

Total failure. I thought that was actually one of the funnier ideas Vince ever had, and oddly I think it helped Iaukea develop as a performer. Been awhile but before that I distinctly remember him as the guy they'd trot out to have an awesome match and then lose to Rey/Eddie/Benoit/Malenko/Psicosis/Liger/etc. TAFKAPI is the first time I remember him kind of having a personality.

Still absolutely nonsensical, but still.

He didn’t give a shit because no one else did.

He had his moments, RR92, Goldberg vs Hogan. But most of the time it was dumb jokes and insults the were detrimental to the action. He was AWESOME as a manager tho.
