"I don't get this, if it's a hit I must be out of touch and I need to change the way I do business." *It's a hit* *Matt Hardy gets shoved back into his '90s gimmick and Ultimate Deletion is never mentioned in WWE again* That’s what gets me about it. From what I remember at the time, it did a pretty big overrun number for the time and then suddenly nothing else happened with it? Clearly something worked about it and then barely anything happened after that. They teamed, sure, but it didn’t lead to another version of it or anything. Just, like you said, back to Matt of old for no reason.

To be perfectly fair having an "I don't get it" opinion after watching it was a fairly common opinion on the internet. This feels like piling on Vince for being "old and out of touch" when it was a truly a bizarre moment, even for Pro Wrestling. For the record I loved it but can clearly see why somebody wouldn't get it. God I feel dirty even vaguely defending Vince McMahon. Triple H when it came to Blue Pants, and how popular Enzo and Cass got quickly. "I don't get it, but fans are into it. So, we're gonna keep putting you guys out there doing your thing." You can not get something, but still put it out there because fans are loving it.

And then meanwhile Vince will look at Theory and be like "I GET IT, WHY DOESN'T ANYONE ELSE GET IT??"

Yeah, and frankly, age isn’t an excuse when you’re running a billion dollar entertainment company with the express purpose of entertaining. You think Bob Iger knew who Billie Eilish was when someone pitched that Disney+ special? Absolutely not, no reasonable argument you could tell me. But they did it because, well, Eilish is a big name artist and it’s a good way to get her fans onto your platform. That’s what you do as someone in his position. If people like the Broken stuff and it’s shown to get viewers and you decide not to do it because you personally don’t get it, that’s just objectively bad business.

Vince is still wearing an onion on his belt. "What do ya mean 'It was the style at the time', pal? Style is style, and style doesn't change."
