Was anyone a fan of this when it happened? It looked like he was going to go up against the ECW Originals and then he turned on the New Blood by destructing them from the inside.

I gotta be honest, I'm not sure ten year old CM Punk would really fit their vibe, but on the other hand, I would have watched it.

As much as I wanted to see Dickhead heel Punk, I really dug the totally-not-a-wolf-in-sheeps-clothing angle.

It was eye rolling even then. But I expected Elijah Burke to become the Randy Orton to Punk’s Cena.

Didn’t he only turn for a week or two weeks? Think it could have worked better if he was heel for longer.

I remember being really excited about the angle and it was over like the next week. It was all super confusing. Like, was Punk even officially a member? I don't even remember what ended it. But that was the amount of effort WWE put into WWECW so it was par for the course. I remember Punk and Burke had a PPV match a few weeks later and I guess that was the end of it? A few weeks later Cor Von was released, Striker was a manager, Thorn was off TV, Ariel was fired and Burke floated around doing nothing until he was fired about a year later. So I guess mission accomplished, Punk? 🤷♂️

The rest of this, they screwed up, though Striker as a manager to Big Daddy V was honestly pretty decent.

The announcers played up Punk’s kickboxing style and Burke being an ex boxing champion, so striker vs kicker, classic clash of styles. And the two of them even showed some chemistry that could have become a great long term rivalry if properly fledged out.

That CM Punk vs. Elijah Burke match was the precursor to Punk vs. The Gunn Club

I watched almost every week but missed a week here and there so I thought maybe I missed something. But it seems like I didn't miss anything. He just went from being a vampire to a regular ol' guy in a beanie. On a somewhat related note. I attended a Wrestling for Charity event in San Jose in 2016. One of the features on the card was a reunion of Kevin Thorn and Ariel. There was a guy in the front row that kept screaming "HEAR ME, FEAR ME!!!" during Thorn's match. Obviously that was Mordecai's catch phrase and Thorn was Mordecai, but this guy was "SUUU-PER DRAAA-GON!!!!" fan levels of annoying about it. Thorn was much nicer about it than Super Dragon was though. Thorn pointed to and acknowledged the fan and I think took a picture with the fan after the match.

But it's just bizarre how the entire New Breed faction just dissolved into basically nothing. All of them were gone within a year with the exception of Striker as a manager and eventually the announce desk.
