HBO had some special on him and Cubs fans earlier today. Why are they still putting the blame on him, does anyone here actually think it's his fault the Cubs didn't make the world series in 03?
Go marlins.

Because 5 reasons exonerating him wasn't enough I guess.

Its because people who dont like the cubs like to bring it up as much as possible. I never talk about Steve Bartmen but weekly I get dumb ass Cardinal fans bringing him up like it was the greatest moment in sports history.

Every single show I have seen does not blame him. They all stick up for him. I guess they still make them because people watch them. I could care less about the Cubs, but will still watch these kinds of shows. It's part of baseball history now. Good or bad.

When the Cubs actually, you know, WIN a World Series, this guy will be forgotten. Until then, he has been the only thing, besides thier ability on the field, that has kept them from being a World Champion.

Because Cubs (and Sox) fans simply cannot let things go. I'm a cubs fan and I could care less about Steve Bartmen. I dont know any cub fans that do. Its a easy talking point for alot of people who are not die hard fans or people do dont know that its really Alex Gonzales fault for the botched Double Play ball. Either way I dont want to talk about 2003 anymore. Its 2007 and a new year where we have a good team and a good chance to make a run.

Until then, he has been the only thing, besides thier ability on the field, that has kept them from being a World Champion. He DIDN'T keep them from being a World Champion. First off the ball was in the stands, so it wasn't fan interference. Secondly there was no guarantee that Alou would make the catch. In fact there was a better chance that he wouldn't make the catch. Dusty Baker and Moises Alou throwing a fit didn't help matters. Bartman didn't make the error, on a routine play. Bartman was there for 1 f***ing play, that had no effect on the outcome of the game, no runs were scored on that play. Also there was still a game 7, Bartman wasn't there. Bartman didn't keep the Cubbies from being a World Champion. The Marlins kept the Cubs from being a World Champion.

Steve Bartman's timing was just atrocious. People do that sort of thing all season long and no one remembers them. Who knows though, if Moises had made the catch the face of the whole thing could've changed. Not likely, but possible. Momentum and such.

So again, once the Cubs win a World Series, the stigma will be gone. Until that happens, hello scapegoat, er... i mean Steve.

The whole Bartman thing is way overblown.
The poor guy's life is probably ruined over something about 60% of people would do themselves: go for the foul ball.
It was out of play and would've taken an AMAZING play by Alou to catch it.
And it's not like he snatched the Marlins game winning home run ball away from Moises! It was an otherwise harmless foul ball in what, the 7th or 8th inning?
Just ridiculous that anyone would blame it this guy and in effect ruin the guy's life. Absolutely stupid.

I mean, they gave up 8 runs and lost the next game. The sad thing is that Bartman is a lifelong Cubs fan.

Sounds like the same dumbass Cardinal fans that I hear from who accused Sosa of being on 'roids yet, looked the other way when Big Mac was accused of the same thing. I'd give anything to lock all arrogant Cardinal fans in a room with a few angry gorillas or...........The Undertakah!

I never talk about Steve Bartmen but weekly I get dumb ass Cardinal fans bringing him up like it was the greatest moment in sports history. Funny how I'm sitting here as you people trash the fans of the cardinals when being that I live here and always around them. I can speak on our behave to say we never made fun of a cruse about the red sox. Our do we rub Steve Bartman's crap in the face of the cubs fans. At less not the fans that live in St. Louis. I don't recall anybody even talking about Sammy Sosa here. Yea if you lived in St. Louis yea were no so big on Big Mac anymore either, What LaRusa says about him and what the fans think of him are two different things. You want prof? Ok two years ago on the last season in the old Busch Statium they had some voting deal were the fans vote the best cardinal for each position that ever played in that statium, who got first base? Pujols did. Not Mac . You know what is funny? How you trash about the Cardinals fans and whatever. The Cubs fans do the same thing. Don't sit there and trash when the cubs fans have there own little stabs. You know what I have heard for the last few years from a cubs fans around here or on the net? How ever year Prior and Wood are going to be so dominate and what happens? They always get hurt. I think the people who said we were made fun of the Red Sox are mistaking us to the yankee fans. I believe a lot of fans were very respectful when they won the title. I watched the local news after it happened. Most of them said respectful things to them. It doesn't even matter to the Cardinals fans anymore about getting sweeped by the Red Sox. We moved on to a much bigger and better deal from last year. The Central is a hard call. The Cards yes are last but hell only a short time ago the Cubs were. It been that close. Who knows really what's going to happen.
