Those numbers sound very impressive!
Does AEW ever releases details of actual profits made? Appreciate it would be either pointless or impossible to try and do it for a single event.

Meltzer tries to get sale numbers from providers for PPVs but thats about it. Sometimes Wrestleconomics also does some calculations and analytics

Those numbers lead me to believe a FD2 with a healthier roster is going to print more $s than Fort Knox.

I acknowledge this is a dumb question, but when he's saying "5 Mil on PPV" what is he actually saying? If it's pure PPV buy revenue, that'd be a million buys...
UPDATE: I suck at math. It's 100K buys.

I can only assume it means "$5 Million in PPV sales" but I don't know if that includes the revenue cut/deal they have with theaters Sounds like a good result all the same Edit: Was Forbidden Door available on NJPW World for Japan subscribers? Or on a delay? If not, I could see a decent percent of the NJPW audience checking the show out it's not as high as the $50-60 stateside tags

Interestingly, Meltzer discussed some polling he did of folks who ordered Double or Nothing and/or Forbidden Door and found there were not nearly as much crossover as he expected. A lot of the regular PPV buyers did not purchase Forbidden Door. He said the most common reasons given her the economy, the injuries, and some folks just not being New Japan fans and seeing it as a lesser product/just a bunch of exhibitions. He did note that there were a lot of folks who rarely buy AEW PPVs but bought this Forbidden Door and they're a big reason the buy rate did pretty well in the end.
I do think this is a good sign in the sense that those folks who bought this but haven't bought too many AEW PPVs in the past will buy the next one given their love for New Japan. This show delivered and they likely won't want to miss the next one. The real challenge is increasing the percentage of AEW PPV buyers for next year and there's a lot of room to grow there. You could space it out a little more . There will hopefully be less injuries. The fans will be more familiar with the New Japan stars and the build will be easier that way. Definitely room to go up.

And that's not a bad thing, there is only so much a person can spend ,Finding more people to spend is not bad at all But yeh its crazy to say this ppv could be even bigger next year

I am one of those few who seldom buy AEW PPV’s but I watch everything that NJPW has produced in the past five years. I prefer NJPW one on one policy over that of triple threat matches and so on. I buy two PPV’s hosted by AEW per year and catch up with it just before the PPV to know exactly what’s going on but this cross over to me was something I’ve been waiting to see for years and had it booked as soon as I saw it on FITETV. I went back and watched the PPV AEW produced just before forbidden door to catch up with each story line and I will be watching more now that Okada has made an appearance in AEW. Yet OC and Kris joined his faction last November so it will be interesting to see how that progresses. This crossover has certainly peaked my interest in AEW but I will always consider NJPW the best promotion on the planet due to its rules and amazing roster. Being that I’m British I love the way NJPW put some of our best in positions to boost their careers in major ways should it be that of Finn Balor creating the BC or Will Ospreay becoming one of the biggest things in NJPW.

Got caught up on viewing today, and odd little detail I marked for: Moxley entering to the opening of "Death Rider" before "Wild Thing" kicked in.
Very strong show overall, wish I had gotten out there to see it live but given the success I can at least tell myself there's always next year.

Yeah, I feel like this will probably lead to at least one more joint show, if not more. There's a lot of meat on the bone due to people who couldn't be there, Kenny and Ibushi probably being the most notable name on each side, though they're not the only ones. It'll be interesting to see what next time will bring, since there's plenty of meat on the bone.

Naito apparently complained that he wasn’t invited to wrestle on this show.

Naito apparently complained that he wasn’t invited to wrestle on this show. He had to be in the cards with Ingobernables reuniting but then they got banned by CMLL...

I also think this stemmed from a comment on his blog which is typically kayfabe. I imagine all the injuries got in the way of whatever they had planned. This all just means they have an act that hasn't appeared yet for next time.
