Sting vs Muta in an AEW PPV would sell itself. Flip the script a bit, and instead of Darby telling Sting that he's got to handle this one on his own, have Sting be the one to tell Darby that this is his fight. Not a bad idea at all. Would be cool to see a montage of Sting training Darby for it somehow. Like show him getting Darby in a real dark, focused place. Did anything of importance with Sting/Muta happen in NJPW that they could license footage for? They had some matches against each other in New Japan. They also tagged together under Muta’s real name.

I will put forth that Muta is the best wrestler to never go to WWE. Still, he’s certainly someone who can be discussed for a future HOF induction.

The only way I'd be interested in Muta vs Sting is if it is a tag match. No way a singles match would be good lol. I've seen Muta's NOAH work and it's been rough.

Kaito Kiyomiya finally beat Mutoh in the first match of the retirement series via submission to the figure four.
Mutoh has officially passed down the dragonscrew and figure four to Kiyomiya.
Go out or your way to check it out. It was fantastic.

Noah are such a weird promotion but that was a good show and the old guys actually put over the current stars for once. Random ECW match (RVD and Tanaka Vs Super crazy and partner) was surreal.
Production continues to be the best around, great looking stage.
Can't wait for a Hayata Vs Ninja Mack match at some point.

I think Tanahashi and SANADA have used it before.

If only Gary Hart was still around.... I could see him interrupting a Sting promo on Dynamite and bringing Muta out for "one last dance". This old time fan would've popped for it.

Fun to see the Sting speculation earlier in the thread. Anyway next match on the retirement tour tomorrow against Tanahashi's team.
Noah's put a good card together actually, including:
Kiyomiya v Fujita Muto/Marufuji/Inamura v Tanahashi/Makabe/Honma HAYATA v Ninja Mack Sugiura/Kojima v Kenoh/Nakajima

I remember being a kid, and seeing him show up in the NWA and I was immediately a fan.
He did the first hurricanrana off the top rope that I ever saw, and it blew my freaking mind.
I hope he has good opponents, and would love for him to have one last high profile match in the states before he hangs it up.
That being said it was cool to see him show up in AEW.

Muta vs Shinsuke Nakamura January 1st at Budokan!! WWE reinstates Day 1 and books Nakamura a month before the show. I kid, I love this sort of cooperation between promotions.

Muta vs Shinsuke Nakamura January 1st at Budokan!! Amazing. Some precedent to as they let KENTA go there and wrestle Marufuji whilst under contract. Hope its a sign of greater co op and talent sharing.

Think its safe to see we have our first WWE HoF inducted of 2023. If that happens, I wonder if they work out a deal to get Sting to induct him?
