I'm going to take Matt at his word here and say that this all sounds very good and I'm glad that Jeff is working through things. Forget wrestling, I just hope he can find some peace for himself.

I'm elated that according to his brother, Jeff Hardy seems to be in a better place now.
However, as a former substance abuse counselor whose dealt with patients that have relapsed multiple times such as Jeff Hardy has, I'll always be worried about him relapsing again and I think if he's found peace for himself outside of wrestling that maybe it's time to call it a career because it seems like the last couple of issues with him and his sobriety have been of a result of his body breaking down on him, and using in his case alcohol to help him cope with his deteriorated physical condition.
I can only assume that the Charismatic Enigma has made more than enough money to be set for life, and could supplement any monetary needs he has by appearing at conventions so maybe now is a the right time for him go off into the sunset in terms of his in-ring career because even during his brief run with AEW in the Spring, you could tell he was a shell of his former self and as I said, he's just someone that I'll continually worry about going forward.

At this point Jeff needs to retire... his body is completely done. He's basically abused his body in the ring for like 30 years and that's been his style... so he can't exactly come back and wrestle a more mat based style cause that's not what his fans want... they want him to jump off of things... and be the big daredevil like he was 20+ years ago. If they plan to resume Sting/Darby vs Hardyz then they should let Sting reference that Victory Road 2011 moment Firstly I don't think they would be letting Sting do anything. If you look at Sting's face at that show, he is disappointed and sad to see a friend of his spiralling. Sting is not a shoot promo guy. He is a superface even in real life. Sting has also BEEN There. Sting battled with Addiction himself, he knows the demons and how hard it is to stay clean, I Don't see him demonizing someone that stumbles like that.

Great to hear that Jeff is getting better and is in a good place. That's much more important than getting back to a business he has destroyed his body for.

Reading between the lines I think the only person who really wants a Jeff return soon is Matt. Seems like everybody else is saying "glad he's doing well" and that's that

I don't see any planet where Steve Borden is comfortable with working a wrestling angle with someone centering around their real-life addiction issues. He seems like a stand-up guy who knows that pain all too well. *edit* and to be even more frank, I think one of the fringe benefits TK noticed of having Sting be with Darby is that there's been zero Darby Allin drama since Sting was paired with him, and they're apparently friends in real life because Darby is inviting Sting out to go do crazy stuntman shit with him. There's few better mentors out there for "the kids" than Sting, I'll put it that way.

I still hate that damn near all Jeff matches were hardcore matches when he came in and that asinine match he had with Darby Allin that was seemingly put together last min just so we can see them both take stupid bumps

I can't even really see any benefit in having Jeff do some one-off retirement match or something honestly. His body's falling apart too much to be worth risking it and it's been years since he's had a match that was particularly worth seeing anyway.

Seems like everybody else is saying "glad he's doing well" and that's that They were at some convention during Wrestlemania weekend and Jeff outright said that Matt is booking him too much. Even when they were back together on AEW TV Matt was still booking them on random indy shows. Now granted, Jeff is a grown man who doesn't have to accept bookings he doesn't want to but hopefully Matt isn't trying to rush him into coming back or convincing him to work more than he needs to be.

If he's genuinely doing well, that's great. But he was also "doing well" after the other fifty times this has happened. I don't care if this time is the one that matters, he needs to not be in the wrestling industry and someone needs to tell his brother to stop using him as a meal ticket.

Have the Hardys put over the Acclaimed at Revolution, then release Jeff.

Honestly, I’d just release both Hardy’s, not like they add a ton anymore and I’m sure that they’re fairly expensive in comparison to others, if HHH wants to bring them back, cool, but otherwise just let them hang on wrestling wherever they can until they accept that it’s over, their bodies give out, or Jeff ends up in jail.
That sounds harsh, but as long as Jeff is in the wrestling industry he’s going to struggle with things and Matt is going to try to keep teaming with him because that’s where the money is. Hate to see guys go out like that, but damn.

What can Jeff Hardy bring to AEW in 2023? I think it is best that he retired and let his reputation fix itself over time.

It would be better if he didn't. He's done a ton for the business, but he's beyond busted at this point and it's just going to cause more issues down the road. Man has his music and art to keep him busy.

All Jeff Hardy was good for in 2022 was some insane spots. Like, dude looked absolutely done in the ring as far as a straight match went. Think he should just call it a career and try his best to stay sober.

I would only be down for a Jeff Hardy return if he went full heel and wrestled like Heel Foley in ecw. Act like he is going to his high spots then boom headlock. I think it could work again.
