Jeff will be in a constant battle with his addictions/issues for the rest of his life regardless of which career path he chooses going forward. It doesn’t matter if he’s wrestling, making music, or just sitting around at home it’s all a battle with his mind and body at this point. If he still wants to drink/do drugs he’s going to find a way.
That said, I think that he should definitely retire and move on with his life. If nothing else he could hit the Convention circuit and make some easy money.

While this is true, I think the danger wrestling poses is one of forcing his body to go through more punishment. His body is already spent and has been for years, but continuing to push it, continuing to risk new injuries or aggravating the wear he's already struggling with can only leave him in worse chronic pain, and it's that pain that's going to drive him to pills. Every bump is another danger and every really nasty ache he's left with is one more reason to just shut out the pain again and go umb; pain pills are such a common addiction for wrestlers for a reason, and I think pushing himself harder is going to make recovery so much more difficult.

See normally at his age I'd kind of look at it as "Maybe some multi man matches, take it easy and get your shit in then tag out" at his age. But the difficulty with Jeff is twofold: Firstly Jeff's shit isn't exactly something he can do while "taking it easy" and even if it was Jeff isn't exactly the kind of guy who would just do that. The man can't help himself. He feels obligated to do the most batshit insane thing he can think of at any given time. I don't know if the man can wrap his head around retiring to be honest.

He also almost certainly doesn't have the money to retire. And nothing else he does will pay nearly as much as wrestling.

I remember reading about the actor who played Xander in Buffy; he's a recovering alcoholic and his days of getting cast are long over so the convention circuit is the easiest way to make money. He has relapsed numerous times and most of the time its been while attending a convention which makes sense as they are boring and usually held in a hotel far from anything of interest where the hotel bar is the only attraction once the crowds have gone home. If Jeff does go that route he should bring plenty of family and friends to keep him company.

He also almost certainly doesn't have the money to retire. And nothing else he does will pay nearly as much as wrestling. Internet says his net worth is between $8-12 million, that’s a pretty good head start on retirement. Sell some paintings, hit the convention circuit, he could easily live comfortably for the rest of his days.

The thing is, I am sure he's got money, but just because he owns some stuff doesn't necessarily mean those assets are available to him. And him doing paintings, conventions, etc, works because he has a very dedicated following, but a lot of the value he has with those ventures dwindles the longer he is away from the ring, which makes his decision more difficult. Like, if he winds up insisting on a retirement match or tour if he does opt to retire, I would not be surprised, but obviously, that scares a lot of people since a lot can go bad in a short time, as evidenced by him f***ing up as it is.

Oh man, that means Jeff will be in time to be at Double or Nothing...
Reporter: "Matt, how do you respond to the allegations that Jeff Hardy is gonna be found guilty of the murders of the counselors at Camp Crystal Lake for years?" Matt: "Jeff's doing great, I'm so proud of him. He's working the hardest he's ever worked, and I look forward to him returning to the ring."

Serious question, because I really don't know, if Jeff got completely clean, how would he manage the pain from decades of wrestling spots?
I'm going to assume he can't be on pain pills, probably not marijuana either.
