He likely won't be back. His license was suspended for 10 years, and he is on probation for two years. Not sure about AEW, but in WWE at least, you NEED to have a driver's license. At the PC they help you get it if you don't have it. Norman Smiley, Robbie Brookside, and Matt Bloom help with it. No reason to think AEW will be much different in requiring a drivers license. And with Jeff being on probation for two years, he won't be allowed to leave Florida during that time unless he gets permission from his probation officer. Which is highly unlikely with his current career, which presents him as a massive flight risk. I'm not doubting you at all.. but I am curious.. How do you know that? Is that common knowledge lol Couple of wrestlers mentioned it in interviews. KAIRI, Iyo, and Sarray all mentioned they got their licenses that way. Finn also did like mentioned previously.

I'm not doubting you at all.. but I am curious.. How do you know that? Is that common knowledge lol I vividly remember Finn Balor admitting that he got like his first real driver's license in 2015 after WWE kept poking him about it with Matt Bloom helping him a whole whole lot in a super wholesome interview. I like Dusty's look of horror here.

10 year license suspension seems pretty severe. Obviously no reasonable fine is going to end up deterring someone with a lot of money like him, but the suspension is a good measure. 40 days in jail isn't exactly a picnic either I’m hearing he got credit for time served so he doesn’t have to spend any more time in jail. The American justice system is so ****ed.

Why is a interlock device being put in his car for two years when he can't drive for ten? We expect you to ignore the suspension so we'll make sure you're sober for two years when illegally driving? Or I'm misunderstanding and the interlock device is to be fitted after the suspension, maybe?

My uncle had his license suspended for multiple DUIs and they put the interlock in once he was able to drive again. And Jeff got a harsher sentence than he got, offhand I think his was suspended for maybe two years then the interlock was for one.

Could be as Lizuka said it's mandatory after suspension or they could argue he needs to drive to work so he gets that but also has to have his daily driving mapped out by police. With him being a wrestler (if he's brought back) the 2nd is less likely, but when on probation you usually get an ankle monitor with your schedule mapped out and if you go out of your schedule the cops are on ya asap

The ball keeps on bouncing. They are really just going to keep on slapping him on the wrist until he kills someone and/or himself.

Ugh, I really don't want to be that guy, but 40 days in jail, $4500 fine, and a suspended license for a habitual offender is bullshit. This is why DUIs are so prevalent in the US. 10 year license suspension seems pretty severe. Obviously no reasonable fine is going to end up deterring someone with a lot of money like him, but the suspension is a good measure. Agreed... for someone in the wrestling business, this is huge at least in my opinion.

My local court report is full of people with suspended licenses getting more DUIs. His suspended license isn't going to change a damn thing for him.

The 10 year license suspension is more of a problem in Jeff’s personal life than in Jeff’s wrestling career. I can see why the WWE would want all of the talent to have an active license but this is not someone new to America or new to the wrestling business. If a promoter thinks that they can still make bank off of Jeff they’ll find a way to get him there and if all else fails they’ll just book Matt with him so that he has a driver.
As for travel between states as stated its probation, not parole. He lives in North Carolina and the nature of his job is travel related so he’ll be able to go wherever in the US as long as he does it correctly. Cain Velasquez is out on bond for his charge and was allowed to travel to a different state for a wrestling show so Jeff should have no problem.

If Jeff was any old schmoe..ooh boy.
I hope for the best. The optimist goes “maybe this’ll check him. The realist thinks this is a nothing punishment. And that he’ll probably regress.
I hope he finds happiness in his life and sober. I hope he doesn’t need/want to wrestle anymore. I really, really hope so. I remember being young and people saying jeff would be in a wheelchair by this point. Never happened but what did has been awful as well.

I haven't watched WWE in ages, but if they did a Driver's Ed YouTube series where they taught wrestlers to drive I would watch that In the Hardy's book, Jeff mentions having to carpool during one of his runs because he did not have an active license. I am on the road for my job and it's really not that hard to get around without renting a car. Uber and Taxi's are quite available. Also as someone who went to law school, I can assure everyone original OP has no idea what he's talking about. Why go on a wrestling forum and start acting like an expert in things you are completely unread about? Didn't wanna be that guy to say it, but thank you for saying it. Which law school brother?

Why go on a wrestling forum and start acting like an expert in things you are completely unread about? It's his way. At least he didn't editorialize his personal opinions into a Meltzer copy-and-paste this time. Not surprised by the tiny fine or the light jail sentence. Unless you're like an absolute monster (and even then), wealth and fame are often enough to avoid serious punishment by the American justice system. Granted, I don't know how good Jeff is with his money, but I imagine he's doing a lot better than the average schmoe where a $5k fine isn't a backbreaker. The 10 year suspended license is the harshest part of the sentence, but depending on what AEW wants to do, I imagine he can carpool with Matt or someone else pretty easily. Like, it's a difficulty (as it should be), but you can work around it. Personally, I would just cut my ties with him and be done with it. Even without the alcohol/drug problems, dude looked absolutely spent in the ring.
Circumstances also play a lot into how things are done. Jeff was extremely lucky he hasn't really hurt himself or others yet.

Matt has always been Jeff's biggest apologist but there are some really positive things he's saying in there about what Jeff is doing and where he is.
I don't think wrestling is a good place for Jeff as it puts too much temptation in his way but I hope he can find something that will aid his recovery and sobriety. It's something Jeff is going to battle with every day of his life. Maybe a move into helping others with their addictions could be what Jeff needs.
