Honestly, one of the best things about Lockdown here in Ireland was that I managed to finally catch up with Gravity Falls.
Wish I did it sooner, it's pretty great.

I should really sit down and do a proper rewatch of it. Seen most of it more than once but never really just saw down and blitzed through the whole show.
That said I do think, while at the time it felt like there was plenty of gas left in the tank and that it was being cut short too soon, that with the benefit of hindsight the show's just the right length. The author and Bill arcs were kind of already getting kind of long in the tooth without dragging them out for an entire extra season and a lot of the weakest episodes of the show are right there at the end. It went out on a high note overall but not sure it would've if it had stuck around for a season 3.

Reading up on it, the main reason for how Season 2 is structured lies in Alex Hirsch first wanting to just let the show be with Season 1, letting it sit on an open ending.
Then, when he was in the mood to do Season 2, he only wanted to do 10 episodes but Disney said "Nope, sorry, we can only give you a season if it is at least 20 episodes" which is probably what led to Season 2 having some weaker episodes.
Also, if you want to read my thoughts on Gravity Falls, follow me along in the little project I am currently doing (selfish self-promotion should be allowed sometimes ): link
Really hoping to finish the show this time after only watching through Season 1 and a bit of Season 2 several years ago because I really liked it at the time (and continue to do so in my rewatch) and if it weren't for its success, I doubt we would have gotten shows that followed a bit in its wake like 2017 Ducktales, Amphibia or The Owl House.

I've never watched it. Need to marathon it and Amphibia at one point.

No wonder this show was only two seasons. Alex seemed on the verge of tearing his hair out.

""Not S&P Approved" has been approved by S&P" is objectively iconic.
