Wow, Dallas didn't show up at all to this game.
Not that I particularly mind. Knights vs Cats means we get a first time Cup winner this year.

Pulling for Florida, but I'd totally be okay with the Knights winning too! 🙂

Florida really has felt like a team of destiny this offseason. I think they're gonna win this as the ultratraditionalists cope seethe mald.

First ever all sunbelt Final, though that was a given once the final four teams were set up.
First time Cup winner guaranteed.
Miami gets the Panthers and the Heat making it, so they get a chance to match the Tampa area's recent sports success to some degree.
And the Knights' owners said before they ever played a game "we'll win a Cup in six years". Welcome to year six.

Eh, they've Been around for 29 years now, nothing for anyone to complain about anymore. We don't have to act like anyone older than 25 is pulling their hair out and screaming "MUH ORIGINAL SIX!!!"

Brad Treliving is officially Toronto's new GM. It comes as no surprise since MLSE had him on their radar when he left Calgary.

This will be the first all sunbelt final between two non relocated teams though. I totally blocked that out of my mind, there you go. I guess it's the first one with full travel to two sunbelt cities for the whole series. Having a hard time picking this one; I think Vegas's depth can get the job done, but the key, again, it probably Bobrovsky. If he keeps up the pace he was on then Panthers will be tough to beat, since they're not a case of their goalie totally carrying them; they're dangerous even if he comes back down to earth a bit. Basically, Florida's one of the tougher playoff teams to suss out in recent memory: if it was the Islanders or Rangers I'd have them pegged as pretenders getting carried by their goalie, but Florida, despite their skaters getting outplayed in a lot of games this postseason, actually play with an effective, physical forecheck and bring a legitimate scoring touch in 5-on-5 situations. I guess I'll lean Vegas; it's tough to keep magic like Florida's going for all four rounds, and again Vegas's depth is relentless and they're capable of winning just about any style of playoff game you throw at them. But again, if the goaltending is still there for the Panthers, then it's going to be really close either way.

What the shit kind of call was that? Looked like an easy high stick. You'll have to be way more specific. Once Vegas wins, they can crow how hockey "works" in the desert and the Coyotes can live.

You should look up the NHL's wacky history of expansion draft rules. It has benefitted Vegas and exactly no one else, except the Oilers for hanging onto Gretzky, ever. That was just contract nonsense, Gretzky wasn't *really* an Oiler, he was an employee of Pocklington, his job just happened to be hockey player for the Oilers.
Back when Tampa joined the league, they had a rule, you had to expose goalies with NHL experience. Caps weren't really interested in exposing any of their goalies, so they signed a guy who last played in like 1978 and sucked then so they could technically fulfill the rules. For reference, Tampa joined in 1992.

The Rangers aren't the only team looking at Hynes either, per Elliotte Friedman. Several teams are interested in hiring him on. Whatever the reason, I don't know, but they clearly haven't seen how much of a shitshow New Jersey & Nashville were when he was coaching them.

Another bit of news around the NHL in case anyone missed it. The Blue Jackets are reportedly looking to hire Mike Babcock.
Well, I'm sure him & Laine are going to be quite the match. Good grief!

A 3-way deal between Philly, Columbus, and LA was just announced.
To PHI: Sean Walker + Cal Petersen + 1st & 2nd from Columbus To CBJ: Ivan Provorov To LA: Carter Hart? (yet to be confirmed, but Hart is getting dealt as we speak)
