This is one of those small quirks of late WCW that baffles me. While I believe he did get a one-day tag title reign with Muta, Vampiro was, however briefly, one of WCW’s most over heel acts, the fact that this didn’t result in a run with the tv or hardcore titles seems inexplicable. When I look back at the time my only explanation is just bad timing; when Vampiro was at his peak there were no title holders that would have made for an interesting program with him, plus once he reached that level he was already starting to look to opportunities outside wrestling and so he didn’t have the interest in any kind of championship program that would have demanded that much more time and dedication. At least I have t heard of any other explanations.

Vamp was/is a notorious pain in the ass. So that likely contributed. Pretty sure at the time he and Konnan were not on good terms which would complicate things as Konnan was the liaison for s lot of the luchadores
There were also rumors that he had heat with Sting during their feud which also lost him support

Vampiro didn't have a habit of endearing himself to people backstage, but I think beyond that, winning titles also means losing them, and in addition, can mean pigeon holing yourself. If he won the TV title, for example, that also could have been a strike against him if he wanted to taken as a main event talent. There's a reason Hogan and Nash never pursued the middle titles, outside of Nash/Hall winning the tag belts.

Yeah I’m sure there were a bunch of reasons it didn’t work out but I think he would have made for a fun US Champion.

Why give him one? He was always just Great Value Raven with a goofy cartoon gimmick.

One of the few good WCW decisions at the time

He was actually getting over as a face in the month or two before the famous April 10 Nitro and the New Blood/Millionare's Club angle which caused him to turn heel on Sting. I could have seen him as US champ then. In fact he probably should have held it at that time. Jarrett was champ but he was feuding with Sid in the main event scene and didn't need to be carrying the US title around with him.

Too edgy. Titles are for squares.

The people, the food, the pay, you name it. When the promoter asked Jericho what was up Jericho explained none of that was even close to true. The promoter said “That’s Vamp being Vamp” so even the promoters knew he was full of shit.

Guy was over and could have easily gotten a mid card title. But as everyone’s mentioned, guy was his own worst enemy and the character degenerated after the heel turn.

If they were ever going to do it then, giving him The U.S. Title in February or March 2000 would have been the time to do it.
The then Champion was Jeff Jarrett and he was challenging for The World Title so Sid could have cost him the Championship.
