Sadly, it’s Earthbound. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE that game, it’s one of top favorite games of all time. But NO video game on earth is worth 200 freaking dollars. Haha, ya I also have an Earthbound cart that sits proudly on a shelf. Forget it’s even there most of the time.

I paid $100+ for the MVP Edition of MLB the Show 22 this year, and spent some money on top of that on packs and stuff. Normally, I feel like I get my money's worth out of Show games, and always have fun playing Diamond Dynasty. But, I despise the game this year. The single player content is tedious, the Showdown mode is deliberately unfair, but you have to play it to unlock the good stuff, and I don't feel that the game plays especially well online. I played it for about a month and a half before I had this moment of realization that I wasn't having any fun at all, so I just stopped and started playing through FF7:R again. Definitely the most I've spent on a game as compared to how long I actually played it/how much enjoyment I got out of it. I've seriously been struggling with The Show 22. When the ball is played in the infield my players revert to Little League. Yeah, and maybe it’s a placebo, but I have been really frustrated with the lack of hit variety in the game this year. It feels like it’s either a HR or a grounder up the middle, and very little else. Feels like every sharp line drive gets caught, and I can count on one hand how many gap doubles I’ve seen in games. It’s just, sadly, a very poor outing from a very good series in my opinion. I’ve been getting my baseball fix from Super Mega Baseball 3 (which is the inverse of this thread for me - I’ve gotten a huge amount of enjoyment from that game compared to what I payed for it.)

I never spend money on packs, I just grind the game which is easy enough compared to before. Problem is DD is def more cheat heavy

WWE Supercard, god knows how much money I've spent on it over the last 8 years. I do know its not as much as the biggest whales in the game.

I bought Warzone on N64 when I was younger. However much it was sold for was too much.
Luckily, I traded it in like a couple of months to someone else who just kind of wanted it for completion's sake because he happened to only be missing that and I think one of the ECW games for that era of wrestling game. He gave me WM2000 for it since he had two for whatever reason, probably a yard sale or whatever. Revenge and No Mercy are better games, but it was a great trade up.
Still, it was kind of disheartening at the time given how limited my gaming budget was. Now, Warzone's sort of a charming mess of a time capsule, but not when you have like 6-7 N64 games and have to make them count.

There's several games I bought when they first came out that I regret the price;
Army Men 3D Sim Theme Park State of Emergency
Most of the time I would either have the benefit of renting them first or playing a friend's copy, but the three examples above were all blind buys. I typically didn't blind buy, but after this I made sure never to again.
As far as used games, there was a brief period when Final Fantasy VII was going for around $50 used. It was a rare example of a game getting cheaper over time versus what happened with most other old games from the mid 2000's onward.

Oh, State of Emergency is a good one. I totally bought into the hype of that one ("it's by the company that did GTA3 omg!") and got it full price. Played it for a bit and it was ass. Ended up selling it for scraps at a Gamestop a few years later.

Fallout 76. Bought it, played ten minutes of it. Rolled my eyes and turned it off. Couldn't even get my money back on it at the time.
Hindsight? Marvel Heroes. Slapped down so much on characters, costumes and all that crap and played it from the start and never felt like I touched the main content by the time it shut down.

Its the only game for my Xbox One that I've really disliked.

I personally didn't mind the game, at least at first, but it got repetitive after a while.

I love the Fallout series and the idea of an online Fallout game was appealing to me but it wasn't any good. Its a shame because I saw that you could go to the Pitt and as much as I would like to revisit the Pitt I'm not going to buy the game again.

I really think I’m the only one who doesn’t hate Fallout76
The only reason I stopped playing is because my PS5 disc reader broke while I was playing it. It was *probably* just meant to happen (luckily replaced under warrantee) but the back of my head says “What if it was the 76 disc?”

I bought the super expensive Mass Effect Andromeda special edition... AND the limited edition Loot Crate for it...
the kicker is the damned loot crate didn't come out for like 6 months after Andromeda... I reviewed it on the board when it came with the joking statement of "It's a good thing Andromeda lived up to the hype of the Mass Effect series and wasn't a massive failure that's already been given up on or this might look stupid!"
I still use the rock's glasses from it ... but they were clearly bought relatively cheap and "Vortex" that was on them originally has LONG since disappeared... which means they were printed on and not sandblasted like one would expect.

Not games but a gaming PC.
In 2016 I went way overboard and built a screaming gaming PC with an i7-6700k and 980ti. Then I hardly used it at all.
Now years later I've been using it more frequently for VR with my Quest 2. The 980ti is about the bare minimum for VR, but so far I haven't had too much issue running anything other than modded Skyrim VR.
The main problem is I'd love to upgrade it for modded Skyrim VR/Fallout VR and the upcoming Starfield. GPU prices are finally coming down to earth, but it would be a very hard sell to my wife after not using it for so long.
For Starfield it would just be cheaper to buy an X-Box, but then I wouldn't get the boost for PC VR.

I typically don't, but I think if I had to pick one, it's SFV.
(And this is coming from someone who spent all of 2020 and 2021 buying Saturn games)

Heinekenrana loves the camp building...when it doesn't Bethesda itself. It could stand to take a bit out of D2's playbook when it comes to it's "Seasons", or...maybe have the theme do more than be what kind of trinkets you're grinding for. The recent Events were initially a hit, Moonshine Jamboree especially, but now that everything is back to normal rotation you're probably never gonna see it again. Curious to see how the Expeditions play out.

As far as DLC and the like Batman Arkham City. But only because I bought it all then my PS3 crapped out. Never got to play.
In the mid 2000s I bought a ton of games, ended up playing once, then never picked up again.
