So that was a little bit hot over the past couple of days. Before yesterday, the previous highest recorded temperature in the UK was 38.7C, the record is now 40.3 (104F).
I’m sure we’ve all heard nothing but weather stories here the last few days but as I’m British and it’s therefore my legal obligation to discuss the weather, here’s another discussion about it.
And yes, I’m aware there are places in the world that have hotter temperatures but a lot of these places seem to have this thing called Air Conditioning installed. Very few houses have AirCon here, so even portable units or fans only cool you for a short time before they just start blowing hot air at you.

I’ve not been too bad
My house has black out blinds which are good at keeping the heat out and I also have a good fan
My office has air con which is good too
And because of the heat a cinema chain offered free tickets for redheads to keep us out the sun which I took advantage of to take my daughters to see a film
So you know apart from the times when I actually have to go outside I’m good lol

Apparently most of the northern hemisphere is dealing with this. It's been hot as balls here in the Northeast US, too.

It's been ungodly hot in my area lately (Southwestern Manitoba, Canada). A horrible humid heat, 38 but with humidex 43-45 on Sunday. F***ing brutal. And constant storms and threats of tornadoes. Stay safe my overly warm UK friends, I can relate
EDIT: And stay hydrated, heat exhaustion is f*** brutal. I'm a ginger, I'm very susceptible so I have experience

I work night shifts in a hotel, and it just so happens that my co-worker who I reply on to get me to and from work is in Spain this week, so I've been granted free use of a room in exchange for working ten nights in a row. Thus, while the rest of the U.K. has broiled, I've been tucked up in a lovely air-conditioned room.

From what I understand Air Conditioning is a lot more common in the US then it is in Northern Europe. Indeed it is. Also most countries in Northern Europe have lower average year-round temperatures and longer, colder winters than a good chunk of the U.S., so buildings are designed to trap and retain heat, which is... not exactly ideal if these kinds of temperatures are likely to become more frequent in the coming years.

It's absurdly hot. We are not built for such temperatures.

I'm from south Texas, lived here all my life. Still not used to triple digit temperatures every damn day even with A/C.
Wishing all the best to those of you experiencing this heatwave.

The U.K. is supposed to be cold and wet, even in summer, not looking like California during wildfire season.

Unsurprisingly we now have a thunderstorm warning over a large area in England. Whilst it would be refreshing and needed to help prevent fires starting, as the ground is currently as dry as a Vulture’s arse it will probably cause some flash flooding.

I was willing the rain on last night. I need more though! Still not cool enough yet but hopefully we won’t be getting near 40 degrees again. A small town near me called Charlwood briefly had the U.K. record of 39 degrees before Heathrow spoiled the fun.

The weather here in Norway has been cold and cloudy for two weeks. I would love some 30+ about now.
