it could work, wwe could rehab the current perception of the man behind the gimmick, rehab the actual gimmick via an overhaul.
they would have to completely take over his twitter account, ban him from public speaking in any form (he didnt start his twitter stupidity after his wwe exit, he started it before.).

I'll throw my two cents in and say he can't wrestle and he can't draw flies. He was never going to be Shawn Michaels in the ring, but he seemed to know how to work fine enough for his character and had several memorable matches. As for not drawing, like I said, he was incredibly popular for a long stretch of time several years back, getting pops that rivaled anybody else on the show. Can I point to one specific huge gate that he was responsible for? No. But nowadays it's no real wrestler that's the draw, it's the WWE itself. Most of the tickets for most of their shows sell out long before any card or even performer is ever announced. Can you point to another specific metric of him not being a draw? Ratings? Merch sales? Watch numbers on the Network? I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just asking for the receipts. Correction. the majority of WWE events do not sell out. If you have been to a recent WWE show, whether it is Raw or Smackdown or a PPV, you will almost always notice empty seats on the hard camera side that's not visible to the TV audience. The only events that have a possibility on selling out now are WrestleMania and the Saudi shows.

He'd rather control his narrative and be a moron on Twitter. And he was really starting to wear out his welcome the last year or so of his tenure.

I never meant to imply that their shows are regularly sold out anymore, merely that the tickets that are sold for shows are mostly done long before a card or performer is announced for them.

I'm sure it would work. He's a freaking monster of a man. I doubt most fans will care about his CYA venture, as I doubt almost anyone has heard of it.
That said, if he has burnt bridges in the locker room that could hinder his return, even though there are countless examples of unpopular guys backstage doing well in wrestling.

He said a few stupid things on Twitter. Big f***ing deal. Society cares to much about people having opinions they don't agree with.
I'd love to see him back. He pretty much always had Roman's number, so a feud between the two would be awesome. They had great chemistry.

One thing he did was shit on indie workers during a pandemic, I mean that is not going to endear himself to many people in the business even 2 years later

With a casual audience, probably. For people like us that are more aware of some of his dumber statements and CYA...err...CYN, nope.

Look, I don't agree with what Braun said, but I also really don't think he said anything that offensive or unforgivable. Nothing that should be a career killer. It's not like he went on a racist or homophobic tirade or anything.

Absolutely. They've tried replacing him with a dozen big dudes and it hasn't worked. For all his faults, Braun had a connection with the audience and could do enough in the ring to get by. I'm sure they could pay him more than whatever he's earning now and still save a good chunk over his previous contract.

I mean... he had an opinion. Are people not allowed those anymore? You know having an opinion about someone else's opinion is an opinion right? I get that. But people want dude to not have a career. Like... that's a bit extreme, ya kno?
