So in 2017, Braun Strowman was arguably the hottest guy in the business. His Incredible Hulk meets the Looney Tune antics was getting massive pops from the crowds who were dying to see him wreck Brock Lesnar and win the title. Then, because of Vince's never-ending obsession with a never-ending Brock vs. Roman program, basically killed him by never letting him get his big win over Brock, to the point where Braun could be quietly let go under the pretenses of "budget cuts".
But now Vince is gone, and it looks like Brock might be gone as well.
So lets say tonight they open Smackdown with Roman coming out, telling everyone that Brock walked out, and then doing the whole "Brock is a coward, scared of me, not enough of a man to face me" etc. etc. promo. He repeats this a couple of times throughout the night, and even goes so far as to say he will be throwing an in-ring farewell party at the end of the show for Brock to wish him a proper good-bye. The party is happening, Roman is in the ring, surrounded by a dozen or so other heels, he trash talks Brock a little more, then suddenly Adam Pearce runs out with a mic yelling "HE'S HERE! HE'S HERE!". Of course Roman turns pale white thinking it's Brock, when all of a sudden the music hits and a loud "BRAUN!!!" echoes throughout the arena.
Braun comes out, destroys everybody in the ring, destroys the ring itself ripping out turnbuckle posts from the ground to beat people with, destroys the set, throwing people through walls and screens, etc. Most importantly though, he destroys Roman, leaving him a crumpled mess who has to be stretchered out. Pearce then announces that Braun will be replacing Brock against Roman at SummerSlam.
My question is, do you think this would work? Would this get the crowd behind Braun like they were five years ago and get the pop like the pops he was getting back then? Or has too much time passed and the fans would just see this as an obvious step down and be disappointed?

I’d like to see Braun and Bray back but replacing Lesnar is not the right way to bring them back, in my opinion. I’d do a triple threat with Rollins and Riddle.

He probably wouldn't be as over as his peak but he'd be warmly received despite his CYN idiocy. He was very over at Mania last year and if anything he looks even better with how terrible all of WWE's attempts to replace him have been.

I personally don't really care if he returns or not but I think it would work. He was always over. I think if he showed up next week he'd get a massive pop.

Short answer, no. Long answer, nooooooooooooo. Ok, can you give a reason? Do you feel too much time has passed and too much has happened to him for him to get that over again? Or do you just not like the dude?

I'll throw my two cents in and say he can't wrestle and he can't draw flies. He was never going to be Shawn Michaels in the ring, but he seemed to know how to work fine enough for his character and had several memorable matches. As for not drawing, like I said, he was incredibly popular for a long stretch of time several years back, getting pops that rivaled anybody else on the show. Can I point to one specific huge gate that he was responsible for? No. But nowadays it's no real wrestler that's the draw, it's the WWE itself. Most of the tickets for most of their shows sell out long before any card or even performer is ever announced. Can you point to another specific metric of him not being a draw? Ratings? Merch sales? Watch numbers on the Network? I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just asking for the receipts.

Even though Braun's an idiot, I think he'd still be pretty over if he returned because I don't think most of the crowds would know/care about CYN and his tweets. I thought he became a really solid wrestler, too, but I'd be concerned about his knees holding up.

It's often said that no wrestler is ever beyond repair. For me, Braun is. Not directly because he's an idiot, but because him being an idiot killed everything he had going for him presence wise.

Just do exactly what you would have done with Braun, but do it with Erick Rowan instead.

Honestly, no. Maybe for a one off or a Carlito-run down the line but..he’s honestly not worth it at this point.

No. With a small caveat if it was any other company but the E I'd be 100% on that statement.

CYN is NOT the forbidden door we need.
But if/when that fails, I can maybe see it.
That said, before Brock returned, I was thinking maybe we'd see Wyatt somehow (remember Roman did NOT pin him for the Uni title, and this was at SummerSlam no less)

What is CYN? There's a thread but I was none the wiser when I last looked it up.
Braun is an idiot who says/thinks/does stupid things (at the very least?), but is an over and credible big man wrestler. Wrestling never ceases with its overflow of the former, but the latter is more of a rarity. He'll be back, unless the former goes into full on Del Rio territory.

He was always over, so it could work. He was kind of like Roman was for awhile where they didn't quite want to pull the trigger fully. I miss the days of 5 to 10 years ago when people could seperate personal viewpoints from a character on tv and not get worked up just because someone has an opinion they disagree with.
