Honest question, has anyone fallen so hard after being world champ as Jinder Mahal? I get it, five years ago he had a world title run that was so f***ing awful it may as well have been the North of wrestling pushes, but my God, the poor guy gets relegated to utter shit anymore. Just look at how tonight went. I've never really been a big fan of his but I really kinda feel sorry for the guy.

It looks like he's turning face soon, which I'm fine with because he's never been one before in WWE AFAIK and I feel like he'd be better as one.

I can't say I really feel bad for him... his reign was terrible, but he was still pushed well beyond his talent level and got to be WWE Champion over way more deserving dudes.

I mean... he really didn't have a rise... he was a jobber for life.... and then suddenly he was a world title contender... he was still more or less considered a jobber just with the title.
Jack Swagger probably had a bigger fall... I guess he didn't stay as a full time Jobber for too long before ending up back on a tag team...

He won the US title after being world champion, which was probably more his speed, but I don't recall that lasting long, either.

Honest question, has anyone fallen so hard after being world champ as Jinder Mahal? Phone for you, Kofi Kingston is on the line. **** No seriously, at least Jinder got a rematch and followed that up with a week-long US title run. Kingston was F5'd so damned hard he completely forgot he even had a championship and went about his business in the tag division like 2019 never happened.

Dude's title reign drove me from Smackdown after it had been so good for awhile. Honestly fine with him brought down to jobber town.

Kofi at least has had a PPV PLE world title match since his title reign and rematches were finished — he lost to Lashley at MITB 2021. I don't think Jinder has.

This is what happens when they hinder Jinder. Mahal takes a fall. I'm sorry.

He's a basic wrestler, not athletic, not unique in any way. That's why it's so glaring how lost he is in-ring when left to his own devices. There are many wrestlers like him, who can't structure a match, who can't smoothly transition from action to reaction, back to action, but them being flashy masks that a bit better. With Mahal, he's a '90s style wrestler without the ring awareness. I think he'd greatly benefit from a proper tag team run with someone of similar size, a Sheamus, a Drew, but then again, outside of him being pretty tall and pretty big - he's in his mid 30s and is still fundamentally lacking, so where's the argument to try it again when he can't show improvement in small roles?

Fair point and I admit I forgot about Kofi, which, given how f***in stoked I was when he won, is a shame.

It looks like he's turning face soon, which I'm fine with because he's never been one before in WWE AFAIK and I feel like he'd be better as one. No question. Watch his table for 3 w/Drew and Heath, or his Summerslam training video in the Build to his match with Nak. He has actuall charisma and comes off likable.

Or the time 3MB were the Union jacks, or post-match v HHH in India, or the time a backstage gaffe made it's way onto YouTube. Mahal just seems to have natural babyface charisma.

In always liked Jinder and he is a solid if unspectacular worker and I agree he needs a good run as a face as he seems genuinely likeable and has charisma that being a serious heel has never let him show.

Dude f***ing scorched earth Nakamura (granted it was Vince's awful racist writing and stupid booking) but still. No sympy.
