Do Liverpool have enough depth in their midfield for next season having lost Henderson, Fabinho, Milner & Keita? I know they’ve signed a couple of midfielders but I’m still sceptical about that midfield and the defence as well.

I know they’ve signed a couple of midfielders but I’m still sceptical about that midfield and the defence as well. Mac Allister, Szobo, Thiago and probably Romeo Lavia still to come. Add in Elliott, Jones and Bajcetic to hopefully continue their impressive form from last season and I think it’s a pretty solid midfield. And there’s always the possibility of Trent playing in midfield too, so hopefully we’ll sign a left back as cover to accommodate that.

Al Hilal have offered 120 million for Victor Osimhen. It would be an absolute travesty if he ends up in the Saudi league instead of staying at Napoli.

Thus far the only players to go there are players past their prime or mercenaries looking for an easy payday because can't cut it at an elite level. Osimhen is neither, and knows that in a year he could be playing with Mbappe at Madrid.

Gutted Jessica Silva and Portugal are out, shame they didn't get an easier group.
I'm pretty down on football these days, characterless robots wearing headphones walking past the kids that worship them sums it up. Her passion and taking time to pose for selfies was a nice antidote. Plus of course some impressive moments of skill, she was carrying that team at times. It feels like a long time since a player instantly stood out like that.
(I usually hate saying passion like that because it's usually misused but it's a rare case it applies)

Portugal were the radius of a goal post away from knocking out the United States in the group stage. Between the US being sluggish and reigning Olympic champions Canada being knocked out in the group themselves (thanks to a 4-0 loss to Australia), it really seems like the North American powerbase for international women's football has shifted.

The US women will probably go out in the Round of 16 as they will see their kryptonite in Sweeden. It would be their earliest exit as I don't think they have ever lost prior to the semifinal (I could be wrong). I wasn't expecting them to win it again as no men's or women's team has ever won 3 in a row, but they really look ordinary. Netherlands looked like the far better team (even though the US looked good in the second half) and Portugal, based on what I've read, had more chances to win the game overnight (here in the US). Them losing early will make the "anti-woke" mob here in the States extremely happy. The USWNT has a lot of young talent so I think they are still going to be among the best, but I do agree that the rest of the world have caught up.

As a Brit, 99% of the time I say England are gonna win a tournament I'm being ironic, but I actually like their chances here.

Gianluigi Buffon is finally set to retire at the grand old age of 85.
Sorry I meant 45. What an amazing career.

I found out Lucas Moura's leaving Spurs by TikTok sending me his leaving message.
As an Arsenal fan, I now have a grudge against TikTok.

I figured he was leaving when he scored in the last game of the season and all the commentary teams fell over themselves to say "Lucas Moura ends his Spurs career with a goal."

Easy victory for England earlier but the VAR decisions were infuriating. No common sense shown by the referee or the VAR panel. Hoping this won’t cost England or other teams later in the tournament.
Lauren James is some player and will take some stopping in this tournament.

Bad news for the Italian women's team, they got knocked out in the group by South Africa. Good news is, they've gone further than the men's team will have done in over a decade by the time the next World Cup comes around. And Panama scored an absolute 30-yard thunderbastard against France, even though they eventually lost.
Another thing of note, Brazil out in the group stage too after being held to a 0-0 draw by Jamaica, who advance as the group runner-up. Football goliaths are falling left, right and centre in this World Cup.

Oh, and I was just about to mention that South Korea could be about to knock Germany out of another World Cup.

Germany tied up the game before half-time, but they still need the other game (Morocco v Colombia) to go their way, and right now it isn't, with Morocco leading 1-0. Their win and a Germany draw with South Korea still sees the Germans drop out.

Germany out! How does this keep happening to them at the hands of the South Koreans?
