I've been training about 7 weeks and am due to get a stripe on my white belt soon, maybe even tomorrow.
They aren't kidding when they say it's the most difficult martial art to learn --shit is HARD. So many moves to learn and counters and you exhaust yourself the first few classes. You wouldn't think of 3 minutes as a long time, but when you're trying to lock a kimura on someone who doesn't want you to, and you're both using all your body weight against each other it's a long time.
Bruises galore after every class, but rolling is addicting. Highly recommend if you've ever thought about it.
Any other Murder Yoga enthusiasts?

I was going to give it a try but between neck issues and currently recovering from knee surgery, I think I'm best suited to continue my path as a striker.

I did both BJJ and Judo for several years. Honestly, no matter what kind of shape you're in the first couple of classes knock the crap out of you because you're using muscle groups together you never use otherwise.
My advice to every new person is to get those fundamental movements down. Shrimp until it's second nature.

Always wanted to get into BJJ, been talking about it for years but have never followed through. There is a school about 30 min away from me, I really should go for it one of these days before I’m too old and beat up

I did BJJ once a week for 6 months when I dabbled in doing MMA about 8 years ago. My body is now too wrecked but if I can get somewhat healthy again I want to go back to BJJ. I was told by former UFC fighter Paul Taylor I had a good transition into a triangle choke for a shorter person going against taller people.
