An interesting what if scenario
For all intents and purposes that was the start of the Lashley push to the guy we got now. Of course TNA/Impact sort of messed up the first run turning him Face but then we got the Destroyer not long after for his 2nd run with the title
But back to MVP, it looked like he was well on his way to being the top guy in Impact until he got his knee injured. He had his bootleg version of Evolution set up and they looked to be headed towards a good run. I think Lashley would eventually got his run but who knows how it would went without the backing of MVP which really put everything together for him

I like MVP, but it's difficult to say how he'd have done. I guess given some of the poor Impact champion reigns over the years, he could have probably comfortable stayed well out of the bottom rung, but I do think he has excelled more as a hype man for Lashley than he would have on his lonesome.

The pairing is so natural that I think they’d have been put together eventually.
