…and some non wrestling fan named Steve Sager. I remember the weekend of Summerslam 1996, Todd Pettingill said that if you had (now defunct) TCI cable you can watch a three ( ) hour long preview show of Summerslam 1996. I had TCI. The show was on the now defunct Intro TV channel that was only on TCI systems. Basically, they were trying to make the PPV a big deal like when Don King used to do for boxing. During the show, Steve basically revealed that he wasn’t a fan when he asked how effective is the Vader Bomb. This caused Dok to jokingly say to him: “Lay in the ring and I’ll give it to you and you tell me if it hurts.” That was funny. When they talked about the Boiler Room brawl, they said it might be Taker’s last match. Nah, give it 24 more years. Though to be fair, I heard a story that Taker suffered an arm injury in that match that was so severe that there was a chance that his arm may have had to get amputated. If that was the case and considering it was 1996, can you imagine the heat Mick would get for ending Taker’s career? Basically, the thought behind this was a precursor to what WWE and USA Network would do almost 20 years later if not later.

Didnt that also have some bikini contest and a ripoff of the chocolate bar scene from Caddyshack? Yeah. That was on during the last half hour of the countdown show (that was also on PPV. As a matter of fact, I think the whole three ) hour long show was also on PPV which would kinda make the Intro TV simulcast kinda pointless since the preview shows on PPV we’re always shown unscrambled. At least that’s what my cable company did. Others might have been different. II could be wrong about the simulcast though.) Also during the last half-hour, Steve Austin beating Yokozuna because Yoko fell off the second rope when he tried to Bonzai Drop him.

Boy, Austin's career really took off after Austin 3:16 didn't it?
