Now that I think about it, the Attitude Era had ALOT of pointless storylines. The whole Terri Runnels fake pregnancy angle comes to mind. After she announced to the World she was pregnant with Val Venis' baby(or at least this was the implication), Val dipped out on her because he wanted nothing to do with her unborn child. It was later revealed that he had a vasectomy, therefore he couldn't be the father. Terri then went back to her ex-husband Goldust thinking he might be the father, even though they haven't had sex in at least a year.
After no one claimed to be the fetus' father, she forms a pack with Jacquelyn calling themselves Pretty Mean Sisters(or PMS for short). She then distracts D'lo in a match, and then she trips and supposedly miscarries, making D'lo remorseful. For the next several weeks, he does demeaning tasks for her and Jackie, such as fighting his best friend Mark Henry and buying tampons for her. It was then later revealed she wasn't pregnant at all, thus abruptly ending the storyline, since Terri isn't a wrestler, thus can't result in a match.
I mean, I understand Vince Russo wanting to give everyone on the roster something to do, even if it's a crappy storyline, but this just seemed like a waste of time. If it wasn't for a great upper-midcard/main event, there's no way people would be watching this shitty attempt at a soap opera, I know I wouldn't, especially looking back at it with 20 years of hindsight, I just tolerated it because, crap aside, it was overall, an exciting time to be a fan. I'm sure it's easy to agree on that.

Most recent example I can think of is MJF vs Brian Pillman Jr. In theory I get they wanted use this to elevate Pillman Jr but it really served no greater purpose and felt like a waste of a MJF's time and just exposed how out of his depth Pillman Jr. was. Keep in mind too this match was used for the Arthur Ashe stadium show so this was suppose to be big deal. However once that match was over they quickly dropped the feud and more or less rehashed some elements of this feud with Darby as if the Jr feud never happened.

I was just thinking: What was up with that Truth Commission anyway? Maybe that would have felt more in place back in the 80s but not the late 90s. Anyway, Jason Jordan being Kurt Angle's son. We'll never really know where they were heading with that, I guess best case scenario is the two suffer some sort of rift, leading to Jason Jordan beating Angle in a match at WM or whatever. Still pointless and ridiculous to add that daddy angle to Jason Jordan. On a semi recent episode of Angle's podcast he said that the whole storyline was a rib on him because Vince found out Angle had dated black women in the past. Yes it would have led to a match between the two at WM. Yup. That was the point. HAHA! God damn it, that's good shit, pal!!!

It says a loooot about Vince that he thought that was some crazy out there thing that warranted devoting months of screentime to joking about. I just kind of figured someone noticed that Angle and Jordan have similar facial structures and decided to make a thing of it.

During the GAB 2004, Sable and Tori had a match. The feud? The heel Sable called Tori fat once and…that’s the feud. During the match, Tori chased Sable around the ring…because she called her fat once.

WCW Hummer storyline in the summer of 1999 where we never really find out who was driving the hummer. I believe it was suggested it was Bischoff in 2000 during the Kidman/Hogan feud, but it's basically forgotten about after July. It was probably not a bright idea to start the angle six days before a PPV and within 45-minutes they had to say that Nash was fine in order for people to buy the PPV. The hilarious part about the Hummer angle was that Sid returned at the next PPV to assist Randy Savage, heavily implying that he was the driver of the Hummer. And if they had just left it at that, it would have been a perfectly fine reveal. But no, they backtracked and said that Sid wasn't the driver of the Hummer, and that it would be an even bigger surprise. And then they just never did the reveal at all and it just fizzled out with both Savage and Nash both moving on to different feuds, and both of them off TV after the summer.

It was sandwiched between Kenzo Suzuki vs. Billy Gunn and Hardcore Holly vs. Mordecai so it probably wasn't the worst thing people saw that night.

Eddie Guerrero and Tajiri when Tajiri took a bump on his lowrider. Eddie was pissed that the hood of his car was damaged, and turned on him. Within a few months, both guys turned, albeit in separate incidents and different feuds.
Mick Foley and Val Venis when GTV caught Venis stuffing Mr. Rocko down his pants.

Pretty much any of Bray's feuds when he was original Cult leader Bray since they were all basically about nothing and mostly used as a "get out of booking free" scenario

Another one I'd add to the list is Ahmed Johnson continuing to feud with Faarooq and The Nation post-Wrestlemania, including joining the group only to later be kicked out. After him and The LOD beat them in a Chicago street fight, The Pearl River Powerhouse should've set his sights on Rocky Maivia and the IC title since he never lost it in the first place. No need to drag it out for another 9 months or so.

The Fiend v The Miz in 2019. The Fiend was so overpowered it was difficult to make anyone seem like a credible threat to him so choosing babyface Miz as his first feud after winning the title was certainly a choice. Then at the PPV he didn't even wrestle as Fiend but as regular Bray, completely deflating the crowd. I think that could have been fine had... like Funhouse Bray not wrestled EXACTLY like Fiend Bray... Miz should’ve won that match with Funhouse Bray just wrestling a really basic style where he doesn’t hit his usual moves.
