The character he portrays is one of an annoying, irritating putz. When he comes on screen, I get the same vibe as Disco Inferno from WCW. And the Bloodline stuff reminds me on when Disco was trying to join the nWo Wolfpac. The Wolfpac, like the Bloodline, was the cool heel faction, but Disco was trying desperately to fit in with the group, although he still came off as a dork. Sami has that same comic timing down when he comes to playing the village idiot.

Don't know how I could possibly disagree more.
He's somebody like Mankind or Daniel Bryan where they're a good wrestler and they have serious and funny sides and you could easily see yourself rooting for them to win the WWE Championship. And it wouldn't shock me in the slightest if it actually happens.
While Disco Inferno is forever a jabroni.

I would say the comparison doesn't quite work because, yes, Sami is an obnoxious character who can be comedic, but he's also presented with a level of credibility that I don't think Disco Inferno has ever been presented with. Like, even after Disco won a few titles, he was still not like Sami or to a much lesser extent Santino, where they present them as still bringing it in the ring.

Yeah, Disco was ALWAYS treated like a joke... Even his third gear was basically "it's serious, so he's going to just... be kind of competent, I guess." He wasn't the dirt worst, but it wasn't like he was a cardio guy, or that he had a deep movepool he could tap into. He was always really basic. |
