No actual billionaire would put their life on the line to fight crime. That's how this is unrealistic. Like, maybe Fred Rogers would have done (assuming he was a billionaire), but even then he would eventually have zero enemies.

Batman grounded
Bruce: "damn it Alfred, I'm a fully grown adult... if I want to go out late at night beating up criminals, I can." Alfred: "now master Bruce, it's 9:30pm, you have an important business meeting in the morning... off to bed, and I dont mean the one in the batcave." Bruce: "stupid meeting, I could be out beating some sanity into joker *walks up stairs slowly* I need a glass of water." Alfred: "BED now. I'll bring the glass up in five minutes, and dont bother with the windows I had them nailed shut."

If I wanted grounded and realistic I wouldn't be reading a comic about a grown man in a batsuit.

Fred would have told the Joker he believed in him and the problem would be solved.

Batman Grounded? Is he going to walk across America to get in touch with the average people?

Of course Batman is more grounded than other franchises.
It has a plant based villain that often gets her powers from the ground. Duh.

I prefer my Batman stupid but dark. I think something like Arkham Asylum, BtAS, or Under the Red Hood hits at what I want, grounded tonally and takes itself seriously but also sometimes we'll just throw Clayface or Man-Bat at you and you just have to take them at face value.
That said I do think you can take "stupid but dark" much too far and a good example of that is Joker wearing his own face as a mask for some idiot reason.

Personally, when I watch comic book movies I definitely want gritty and realistic and definitely do not want something that resembles a comic book...
In all seriousness, I'm probably one of the few living souls on the planet that would rather watch any Batman movie prior to Nolan's trilogy than ever watch any of those movies or The Batman again. As bad as a movie like Batman & Robin is, it's still more fun to watch than slogging through an overly serious Nolan or Pattinson Batman. Those first two Batman movies by Burton are still the perfect comic book movies, in my opinion.

I would unironically love a live-action Batman movie that wholeheartedly embraces Silver Age wackyness. You had that in 1997 and you hated it. The hell we did. Batman and Robin didn't know what it wanted to be which was it's biggest problem. Batman Forever and Carrey specifically was absolutely a love letter to Frank Gorshin. Batman and Robin wanted to be dark and gritty as well as goofy and lighthearted at the same time which is mostly why it failed.

as for Nolan's movie being "Realistic" mother f***er flies at one point...
dude gets back to Gotham from like halfway around the world with no money in like 10 minutes...
etc. etc.

Honestly I find Batman & Robin an utter chore to sit through, and not in an, "Oh, this is so stupid!" way. It's just a tonally confused mess with tons of scenes that go nowhere and no one in it except Schwarzenegger (I was able to spell that off the top of my head, I'm shocked) seems to at all give a damn about their performance. It's a very dull movie.
Batman Forever I wouldn't call a favorite by any stretch of the imagination but I do find it much more watchable by comparison. It's kind of largely being carried by Carrey but a lot of the movie works well enough for what it's trying to be. ... Still confused by the laundry scene.

Now I want a movie that is an origin story about Bruce Wayne becoming Batman...only to immediately be identified as Bruce Wayne and arrested for vigilantism. *roll credits*

I will always say that all Batmen are good and valid (yeah, I even like Batman & Robin), but I would like a live action Batman that embraces the sci-fi/fantasy elements. It IS possible to do that without going "BIF BAM POW!" And give us some villains that haven't gotten a film yet!

The best two Batman movies featured a man being electrocuted to death by a hand buzzer and a woman who could survive being killed eight times.
Batman never needs to be realistic.

I don't mind Batman being more gritty and less fantastic in his presentation, but I hate the argument that's he's supposed to be realistic. If you want realistic, go watch a Bourne movie. Why even bother with a guy who dresses up in a Bat suit?

The biggest problem with people wanting this "grounded in reality" level of Batman is it has hurt the perception of Robin in the movie bubble.
And without having Robin come in for a family dynamic, you end up having to re-tread the "brooding Loner" Batman over and over again.
While I haven't seen it yet myself admittedly, that's why some have argued, at least in that regard, that the LEGO Batman movie was the best portrayal of Batman maturing
