Let's say what if Bulldog quietly retires/goes into hiatus ala HBK for the injury and WWF for some reason decides to get Neidhart in 99, I mean could he go at this time? Was he hurt as bad as Smith or did he have drug problems like Warrior said he had in 98? Was his rep so bad from Heroes of Wrestling that any company would think twice at the time? Would he be booked to go for the title or remain in midcard and how long would he last?

He would have been a mainstay on C shows, ocassionally appearing to job on Raw or SD. Neidhart was even lower on totem pole than Bulldog, and had a history ot no-showing events. His last couple of runs with the WWF were basically Vince doing Stu Hart a favor.

Would he be wearing jeans to show how edgy he is?

Honestly, the only thing I can come up with for Anvil in '99 is teaming him up with Val Venis and calling them "Hartcore Porn."
He would have been rebranded as Jim "the Fluffer" Neidhart.

Pretty sure Anvil was drugged out at this point too, so he could have probably tooled around the Hardcore division. Feuded with Val Venis over which was harder the Big Valbowski or the little Anvil. Maybe teamed with Rikishi as the Pink and Stink Connection, and then probably teamed with Albert as AA or something. In short nothing good.

He'd have sunk even quicker than Bulldog did.

Bulldog was always a big draw internationally, specifically in the UK, which is why he always got 2nd chances. Anvil was good at what he did, but did not really have the same drawing ability. I think you would have just seen him do enhancement matches on Heat

He still would have attacked a dude with a random dildo
To this very day I am still 100% convinced that "foreign object" was a dildo.

He would probably be on Heat with the occasional appearance on Raw, that's about it.

Anvil burned to many bridges with WWE by that point

I can see Jim taking Mick Foley's spot in that feud with HHH that kicked off 2000.
Hunter and Stephanie have Jim fired, only for him to be resinstated and cut a fiery promo on the following Smackdown, emerging on the entrance stage as HHH stands in the ring:
Jim Neidhart: "The Anvil is an entertaining son of a gun - he's one tough SOB and one hell of a fighter. So it saddens me to say that the one thing the Anvil is not is ready to face you in a Street Fight at the Garden. But I think the WWF fans deserve a substitute..."
HHH: "Who?"
Jim Neidhart: *pulls down singlet and pulls on yellow mask as he strides to the ring*

Bulldog was a bigger star by then, to say the least, and just about always was. I could have seen WWE giving him a pity job, but outside of being Rumble fodder and being mostly on Heat/Jakked/Metal or whatever, I don't picture him getting a whole lot of airtime. He was too coked out and out of shape.

Anvil owes basically his entire career to Stu Hart. It's not to say the Hart Foundation wasn't awesome, but Stu got him that gig and then every gig thereafter to look after his daughter, not so much for Jim.

Jim was never a big of star as Bulldog, so I don't think he would've done much other than maybe be in a tag team.

If he would have came in early in nineteen ninety-nine before the Corporation merged with the Ministry of Darkness, I could have easily seen him as additional muscle for them, perhaps used in a similar role as the Big Boss Man was.
However, other than that, I can't see him lasting any longer than the British Bulldog did or rising above anything more than just another name in the hardcore division.

No offense to the dead but I assume it would have gone like every other post 91 Neidhart run. It would have last somewhere between 2-6 months before he would do something to get released.

Even in a messed up state, the Bulldog always had more value than the Anvil. Neidhart does tend to get underrated in the promo department and character department, but overall, he was never an interesting singles guy.

I'd pay to watch Anvil wreck the Hardcore division. Beats somebody, laughs at the camera for 10 seconds. Someone jumps him. Repeat. 💵💵💵💵
