Just revisited this for the first time since the year it happened. Watched the full event, and while I'd seen the Ospreay-Vader match before, I had no idea about the promo he cut at the end of it.
Were they setting up for a rematch that never happened? What the heck?
What are your memories of this match/event?

Had no idea this was a thing, but Dunne vs. a prime Vader would be f***ing insane.

I do remember that this was after a Ricochet vs Ospreay NJPW match picked up a ton of steam on Twitter. Vader, among some other veterans, decried it as athletically impressive but telling no story. (I think he stopped short of calling it choreographed looking like some did, so he was at least less hypocritical than some of them.) Admittedly, I am not unsympathetic to Vader's point, as Ospreay hadn't improved on that front just yet, and I'm still not sure if Ricochet ever has. But I digresss.
Ospreay took shots back, with some fans being unsure if it was a work or shoot until the match came and it was indeed a work. Pete Dunne sided with Vader, with Ricochet interfering as well to try to help Ospreay. Vader chokeslammed Ospreay twice after kicking out of Ospreay's big moves and won.
I do think they were going to run another match but that Vader's health deteriorated. Vader did have something of an ego, but he wasn't above putting people over. I do imagine RevPro probably would have wanted Ospreay to get his win back, though really, it probably did nothing to damage his stock, ultimately.

Basically Vader went into business for himself in that match and allegedly was a massive jerk backstage. Also right after this he was diagnosed with the heart failure that eventually killed him. So it was a perfect storm.
