I couldn’t bump this old thread: officialfan.proboards.com/thread/592356/occupation-gimmicks-haven so figured it was time for a rehash. Anyway, I was browsing Conrad Thompson’s mortgage website and saw Jumbo Mortgage was a featured topic. That’s like the perfect name for the cheesy 1995 gimmick I could see Conrad Thompson playing. As far as I know there has never been an evil wrestling mortgage broker or mortgage lender. Conrad’s character would be Jumbo Mortgage (they could just call him Jumbo mostly). The gimmick would work best in a small time promotion. Honestly probably just the USWA. Conrad is a broker in real life, but evil mortgage lender seems like a better gimmick. The storyline could be that the company owner is running out of business but Jumbo loans the promoter some cash for a mortgage…at an insanely predatory rate! When the good hearted owner finally talks to a wrestler with a lawyer gimmick, he has explained to him how unfair the loan is. The owner will live up to his word and payback the loan but wants to renegotiate the terms. Jumbo is pissed! He brings in his tag team, The Foreclosure to run roughshod over this small company. Not sure what real estate terms the wrestlers making up The Foreclosure could be called. I’m thinking The Underwriter and Liability. |

My housemate wants a gimmick that is a mic tech who gets sick of wrestlers tapping mics or dropping them or using them as weapons and viciously beats someone down after one mic pop too many
They could turn the lights off to ambush people with a beat down
They choose whose music plays when
They would be extremely good at ladder matches

A wrestling actor. Every few weeks they have a complete character change and behave totally differently, explaining that what they were doing previously was just method acting. Save the babyface from a beatdown? That was just a "hero role" I was playing. Beat the hell out of someone with a chair? I was method-acting the role of unhinged sadist -- that's not the real me. Angry promo one week, baby-kissing promo the next. Technical wrestling specialist one week, psycho with a cattle prod the next. You never know what you're getting. And you're always guessing what this person's end game is or if they're just a nutcase.
Other wrestlers could also exploit this by offering the actor "parts" to accomplish certain things for them (throw matches, blindside enemies, etc.). But it's risky business because someone else could offer the wrestler a different "part" later to go the other direction.

Not occupational, but my old idea was an evil Swiss wrestler who doesn’t actually wrestle his matches, he pays off other wrestlers to do it for him. And he gets all his losses invalidated by pulling a movie aka WCW Jericho as the swerve master, but instead of some rule book he uses the Geneva Convention. Mandatory backstage skit of him having a whole bunch of titles (championship gold) stolen from other promotions in his locker.

A work from home single mother that does call-center. She is unappreciated at her job and with her children. She wrestles as her only outlet from being trapped in her home.
The catch is, she's always on the clock and her job and her kids are constantly interrupting her during her matches.
Her matches eventually devolve into extreme violence.
