Just adding Gunther was great during his short time in the press conference. He came off like a top star. very personable too.

Heh, and people wanted Sami Zayn in this match… He’d have a great match, but he probably couldn’t have THIS match.

Sami in Montreal was incredible, but Sheamus winning was totally the right call IMO. But I say that as someone who'd been wanting to see Sheamus vs. Gunther forever.

Also gotta put in a good word for them calling up Vinci and putting Imperium back together. The new bookerman may have dropped a big ball tonight, but this was a smart call for sure.

Also I rly hope they don't change Vinci's name back. It would be a good wrinkle if Gunther was absolutely appalled by how Italian this dude got in the last 3 months.

One of them catches Wade Barrett mid stroke in the background Also somehow Vinci goes from dry to just full on greasy in one pic frame

Also shoutout to Kaiser always being the proper hype man for GUNTHER
He knows how to get his cadence right and make it important

The only question to ask. Is this a legit 5 star match? I'd say so, and I honestly wouldn't be shocked if Meltzer gave them it. He loves GUNTHER and has previously given him 5 stars for a number of matches.

In real life he's the complete opposite of his character, so all he'd have to do is bring some of his real personality to the act.

I haven't seen the match but it sounds like exactly what the match between them would be, and I think that Meltzer is much more amenable to giving WWE matches five stars if we start seeing a lot more Takeover-style matches creeping onto the show. Meltzer has styles that he likes, and Vince would rarely put on those kinds of matches, but Triple H? I wouldn't be surprised if this is a five star to kick off the new era, and a new embarrassment of riches for five star WWE matches.

Triple H's tastes are probably more like Meltzer's than Vince's are, to say the least. Cody and Seth got the final 5 of Vince's tenure, and on the main roster, one would have had to go all the way back to CM Punk vs Cena for another 5.

"Listen to the crowd chanting "let's go Sheamus!""
10 years later and they were actually chanting it for real this time. I'm so happy for him. That match and post-match ovation was a career defining moment for him.
They've also made the IC title more important than it's been in years. People seem to be legit invested in Sheamus getting it to complete his grand slam. I'm not sure when I'd do the rematch though. I don't think I'd do it immediately at the next PPV but I'm also not sure about holding out for Wrestlemania. Too often good stuff gets saved then injuries or other stuff get in the way and it doesn't happen.

Bloody loved it. So intense. It was everything I hoped it would be. Even though I was disappointed Sheamus didn’t win he got a hell of an ovation after and he looked visibly moved.
