Based on what evidence exactly ? We know that wrestlers from both companies talk to each other about many things including time left on contracts. That’s not tampering just like Jeff hardy going to AEW didn't involve tampering just because jeff spoke to his brother.
No one is above this behavior. That's the point. How can you possibly feel bad for any billionaire complaining about this when they do it themselves all the time? It's like Vince whining about WCW contacting Hall and Nash prior to their contracts expiring when we all know he did the same to everyone he wanted to sign. Jericho talks about it openly in his book. He was still under contract to WCW and took a secret meeting with Vince to discuss joining the WWF.
AJ Styles let slip on Twitch that the Bucks (executives mind you) were begging him to join AEW around the time of the debut episode of Dynamite.
Stardom got pissed off when Omega (another EVP) was trying to poach Mayu Iwatani for the AEW women's division when she was very much under contract to them.
Cody and Brandi said in a public interview they wanted to sign Randy Orton and Alexa Bliss.
Hell, the guys that helped start the company, The Elite, were all under contract with NJPW until Jan 2019. Are you going to tell me with a straight face TK hadn't talked to them beforehand and had booked a press conference announcing the promotion not having already agreed deals with Kenny/Cody/Bucks/Page?
TK was texting Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson info on booking ideas he had for them in AEW while they were sitting backstage at Raw.
MJF, Thunder Rosa, Ricky Starks, Pillman Jr and others were under contract to NWA/MLW around 2019/20. I have absolutely no sympathy for either of those companies because they apparently pay like shit but it's another example of Tony trying to sign people while under contract.
Do people believe Tony never ever talked with Adam Cole about potentially signing him all those times he was backstage at AEW from 2019-21?
Matt Hardy f***ed up and let slip in an interview that Tony had agreed to bring Jeff in while he was still being paid under his 90 day WWE no-compete clause.
Again, how can TK throw a hissy fit about contract tampering when anyone with half a brain knows he does it too like every wrestling promoter in history has?
Tony is a billionaire. Vince is a billionaire. I'm never ever going to feel bad for them or side with them over talent 99% of the time. There's ways to go about it, sure. If someone stops showing up for work and demands to be released to go to the competition why would you reward that kind of behavior? If they're reasonable about it though then they should be treated reasonably in return. Talk to them, see if things can be smoothed over. If they're still unhappy and want to leave then explain that they have to tie up any loose ends on TV and put some people over on their way out (especially if it's a big star). It sounds like that's exactly what Malakai did. He didn't go on strike. He came to work, did as asked and put over 65 year old Sting but if he still wants to go just let him go without holding his career hostage. If it's a short no-compete then whatever but if these rumors about 2 years or anything close to that are true than that is insane and completely pointless because it would never hold up in court even if he signed it.
