Love the thing, but in very small doses. I enjoyed him on Live and Kicking, but he was no Leprechaun.

Jack Whitehall cowering in terror from Mr. Blobby is the only time Jack Whitehall has ever been entertaining. I has made to go see him a couple of years ago in Manchester and I've never hated anything more. Painfully unfunny.

I liked Blobby at his peak but I was like 10 at the time. Can see why people would have been irritated by him.
Maybe with his AEW connections we can get Jack Whitehall v Blobby?

He gets you in your dreams.
Err, I mean, he was a joke character parodying the sort of characters TV make for the 4-8 year olds. However, he became MASSIVELY popular with 4-8 year olds, and then they rode that bandwagon into the ground. I bought the single. I make no apologies because I was 7 years old, and it was marketed at my age group.
Like Crazy Frog and Jinder Mahal, it annoyed a lot of people and was overexposed, but didn't last long.

So, he has spots and he can come across as a jerk sometimes...that means he is a spotted dick?

I'm now annoyed I wasted my overexposed, grotesque, spotty, inhuman looking monster style joke on Noel Edmonds and not Jinder. Although tbf Blobby is the better wrestler.

He beat Meatloaf and Take-That to Christmas no 1 the character went on that long he got a wife, Mrs Blobby and a son, Baby Blobby.
I'd say if you want the real history of him, go a read about Basil Brush, then think "what could be the 90's version of this?" and you have Mr Blobby

Sometimes it's best to forget that British culture can come up with something so pink and horrific!

As a young kid, seeing Blobby show up, destroy a set, and just generally cause havoc was always a fun time. Like most things, the joke got ran into the ground and became less and less funny.
Beating Take That to Christmas No.1 with one of the worst songs ever will always be funny, however.

Tbf, none of us can beat my great childhood hero, Jon Pertwee, for the Noel Edmonds joke that was both funny AND aged brilliantly. Pertwee (as Dr Who on the House Party) -I've been to the year 2010. You're still on TV. Noel - Oh, am I doing serious drama? Pertwee - I said I travel in time and space, I don't go to Fantasy Island!
